It's actually a form of prejudice women are too stupid to object to. The message is that the highest a woman can be is to look and act like a man. There are no characters who approach problems in a uniquely female way, but rather ones who look, act, dress, etc like men.

When guys were doing it, they picked petite little girls that could roundhouse kick grown men across the room. Men naturally like action and they naturally like feminine women. So it's logical Hollywood has been filled with sexy kick ass women. It isn't very realistic, but Hollywood isn't supposed to be realistic. Personally I like chicks that are a combination of hotness and very slight butch-ness (to ad realism), someone like Michelle Rodriguez and Ruby Rose for an example, and no these are not too butch. If you think that's butch be glad they don't cast Patton Oswald look alikes.....yet

Anyway, male writers have been cutting down their male characters and making their female characters shrill (each are a bit offensive to each gender) for a long long time.
I've chuckled about the incel manbabies who complain endlessly about females being given things to do in the new Star Wars movies, and I love pointing out how they get just about everything wrong (but they hate that).
Like when they talk about Leia being a respectable female character unlike these new ones... I'll point out that Lucas wrote Leia as a shrill, insulting, and bossy politician (worse than Hillary Clinton!). I will list her insults and how Lucas decided that the best way to write her strong was to have her attack and belittle the men around her.
They can't handle reality like that.

Conservatives don't have a problem with women and minorities in movies (if anybody holds this view, it's the far right). They just have a problem when putting women and minorities is done for political purposes to such an extent that actually looks ridiculous.
Imagine if there was some ideology pushing for "child power" and "liberation of children" and thus started making every movie with children stronger and smarter than adults. That's how modern feminism in movies looks like.

Techinically Aliens had two strong female characters: Ripley and Vasquez. Hell, Vasquez was literally a muscular, short-haired feminist who hated being called a woman and wanted to fight among the men. Her character is quite literally everything conservative audiences hate today, and nobody has a problem with her I guess?
But where are all these raving libtards foaming at the mouths about women and minorities wiping white male actors out of the industry like EVERY conservative claims?
