Lifeless insipid mess. Did not like it

So I had not much idea who Black Adam was and tbh after some numbing cgi nonstop fights like you're rolling after falling, I still don't know much about him nor care for him.

The whole thing lifeless and boring and lacked any audience connect.

It was laughable how his son gives up his life for Black Adam which makes less sense and the whole backstory was just childish and silly.

The chars were zero developed, forced and the squad was atrociously cringey from the annoying irritant (the kid on skates) to the do it all mom to the overbearing uncle and others.

The main villain was a joke really. Even Black Adam was a joke. It has to be. Who'd really write a comic this way or make a movie like this?

It had every trope from the Dr. Fate (the only interesting char) telegraphed self sacrifice to the skeleton fight for like 30s to the 30 or so Khandaqians marching with them based on some annoying kid on a skate and cape.

This was a C-team poorly assembled, badly made movie with zero audience investment or feel and just a platform for Dwayne Johnson to show how terrible he is in acting and making such movies. They're even ashamed of him saying the word Black Adam.

My rating would be 4/10.

Thank goodness I didn't pay to see this crap. Turned it off after 15 minutes, was unwatchable.

I don’t say this on the internet very often, fani: I like you. You write very well, and you calls ‘em as you see ‘em. I hope you stick around.

What is a char?

A character?

This movie was a mess.

100% right.

Zero character development. Who ARE these “Justice Society” dweebs, what are their powers and what’s their motivation besides “justice” whatever that is.

Kid’s mom had it 100% right, their country had been subjugated for decades yet Justice Society didn’t give a flip until someone tried to save them and they fought AGAINST that guy. WTF????

“No extra-judicial killings” that HAS to be the funniest/stupidest line in all of super-hero-dom. Isn’t that the the ENTIRE raison d’etre for super-heroes? Killing the bad guys because they’re beyond the reach of traditional justice!

Basically very thin reasons for non-stop CGI fights and that’s about it. More “modern” script writing where they just set around and say: “Hey, wouldn’t it be cool if this happened” and they just put it in the script with no backstory, development, or motivation. Only saving grace is they didn’t make the kid Shazam at the end - which was a total shock to me.

The rock is overrated.

This was a generic Netflix production without the Netflix logo! It was purely made to cash in on the superhero fad & current negro love and they missed the mark!

Generic is an apt word to describe this. And I realized after watching this movie why Marvel movies are so much better.

Because they are not afraid of their character and who they are nor afraid to say their name proudly.

e.g. "The truth is.... I AM IRONMAN".... Epic!

"Who am I? I'm Spider-man!"... Epic!

Here, after the irritant asks him at the end, "How does it feel", Adam says "Wrong" after a long pause, jumps high and smashes at high speed the stone throne with no regard for injuring the 3 guys there with shrapnel and after annoying mom says "what should we call you?".... he doesn't even say his "Black Adam" because it cuts to end credits. Are you that ashamed to say the word "Black Adam"? Seriously...

Same with Superman - "Truth, justice...and all that"... "And all that"???? What's wrong with saying "The American Way". That's how it is in the comics. Superman does say that. People around the world watched it and loved it in 1978 and even today like that movie. That one "The American Way" does not change or solve world problems nor change politics of the world.....

This is why DC Flops. They are too ashamed of their chars unlike Marvel which embraces them and proudly makes them stand tall and strong and thus it is a success.

A mess largely because they tried to make a C list comic book villain a hero because The Rock needed him to be.
