His girlfriend being "on the pipe now"?

Uh no. Come on...she's got a good head on her shoulders and sure, she spent a night cracking out, getting the full effects of the high, but she has to know better for herself, right?

Especially to have this transpire at such a pivotal moment in her life...she's off to college the very next afternoon! What is she going to do? Tell her Dad that nope, give me my f***ing money, I'm going to go get high instead"?
She HAS to know that its a dead-end. Is she really going to choose the pipe instead of the life she's been imagining for herself for however many years now?

Maybe the show is going to use her as an example of just how quick people could succumb to the addiction, but it seems a bit extreme. Or at least, I friggin HOPE its extreme, because that's just craziness right there.

Handcuff that girl to the bed for 24 hours...she'd come around, right?

It's not always that simple. Stress in the family and life changing events are exactly the kinds of things young people turn to drugs to deal with. She wasn't all in on college, it was more like she was being pushed in that direction, plus all the drama between her dad and the kids she grew up with.

She probably looked at crack like it was the same as drinking or smoking weed, but it's definitely not. I've known some addicts and they all have the same story. The first high is the best they've ever experienced, and the next few times after that is all about trying to feel that again. But they can't, it's never as good. Nothing else matters, they keep chasing that first high until they get physically addicted. In that way, you can absolutely be destroyed by trying it just one time. That's why I never tried any of the hard stuff, I can see how it would happen to me.

Tell me why that dude needed to be thrown out the window...do you remember?
Come on, Winslow!
Yeah, remember her saying something about how she just wanted a little to take with her so that she could party like she did in LA? She definitely didn't seem to have the right mindset about what exactly she was dealing with, you're exactly right.

But that being said, she's at a juncture that she only got to by being smart...by having a good head on her shoulders and having taken her future into consideration for however long beforehand...
Its difficult to believe she's capable of throwing that all away so quickly...that she's able to just turn off whatever perspective got her to her current position and instantaneously choose to go the opposite direction into a future with no future for her.
Sure, she has her issues, but it also seems like she's pretty far away from dysfunctional. Not sure what happened to Mom, but she's got a strong Father figure, strong friends...you see how pissed her friend got when she talked about maybe not going?

I don't know...its a fictional character and all, but goddang this show...I'm hoping she gets herself straight. I very much doubt it, all indicators point to her function as a plot device, but...come on!
