Is anyone else watching this?

I've just watched the second episode today.. so far I'm enjoying it, I hope the final episode lives up to expectations. Paula is more than a little creepy with her judgements of Ellen's parenting skills. Just a couple of questions though...

1) Why does Paula's daughter look mixed race? Surely if she got a fake daughter she would make sure her skin colour was right? Or is she not mixed race but just dark complexion?

2) Why did Ellen admit to leaving her daughter in the car? The photo means nothing and she could very easily have been sat in the front seat. That said, although not ideal, I don't think leaving her in a locked car for 30 seconds is the end of the world (although fair enough social services have to investigate just to be certain there aren't bigger issues).

3) Where does Paula get off telling Ellen that her going back to work after 2 months is a disaster waiting to happen? I wouldn't go back to work that early but it's her choice!

I've been watching - really enjoying it so far. Can't wait for the next episode. Perfect example of "gaslighting". Definitely something funny going on with Paula and her family. We can only hope that it all comes out in the final episode and Ellen is exonerated...

Yeah, I'm looking forward to seeing the finale tonight and finding out what's going on!

Have you seen the finale now? I really enjoyed it and think that it wrapped it all up really well but (spoilers now) I do wonder why the partners were so quick to believe this woman they've only known for a few months over their partners of years! I don't blame Ellen for being angry at Ian for ignoring her all this time. I know it would be a hard thing to believe that a woman could be that crazy but to cut your wife completely out of her babies life?! The very end also annoyed me as it seemed to prove that Paula was right and that Ellen shouldn't have gone back to work so quickly

Right up to the end I thought that Paula had arranged it to look like Ellen had grabbed the baby and would therefore end up in jail (given that they were found together at the library when the cops arrived). I'm still not sure how the cops knew it wasn't like that when they arrived, unless Paula had confessed? It's unclear. I'm not surprised the Paula was able to turn them all against Ellen - the manipulations are so subtle that they are hard to see from the inside. The one person who knows the truth ends up looking paranoid. I was in that situation once to a certain extent. The ex-friend in question came to me five years later and apologised, having finally discovered what the manipulator was really like (my friend lost her relationship and her job before the penny eventually dropped). It's scary to think that people like that really exist... looking forward to more excellent UK drama :)

Yeah, I wondered that too.. I guessed maybe Ian realised by Ellen's reaction that she really hadn't taken the baby and that Paula must have done. I don't know what people get out of being like that, it seems more effort than it's worth to be hated so much. I agree, this is one of the best dramas I've seen in a long while (although I did enjoy Apple Tree Yard and am now reading the book).

Was a great show for 2.5 episodes, the finale was a bit odd and many see it as being a bit rushed which I agree with.

Anyhow overall it was very good fun.

It didn't feel rushed to me but I was annoyed that Ellen gave up work after being so adamant that she wouldn't need to.. it seemed as though Paula was justified in her concern the whole time.
