Running man?

Is this supposed to be the real version of it?

reply

Book version yes. Unless we get a guy in a christmas light suit..

I just saw a commercial for this show and that was exactly my first thought!!!

Kind of scary to think about...

Some people just get way too serious around here 

THANK YOU!!! I came here just to comment on that obvious comparison, and it looks like somebody did indeed beat me to it ;) I've read the Stephen King book "The Running Man" a half-dozen times over the years, so I know the plot and details inside & out. This TV show seems so similar (well except for the violence & killing part of course, haha) but my biggest frustration is WHY doesn't the show explain its rules more clearly? In other words, must the contestants keep on the run, or can they hunker down in the same place for 28 days? Do they have to upload video "diary" clips of themselves talking to the internet every day to stay in the game? (In the book it was him having to videotape himself and mailing in those videotapes daily.) Doesn't the cameraman following them around attract attention? I mean reality TV is by nature dodgy, manipulative, and even outright dishonest. But even still, it'd help my understanding of the show if the idiot producers actually explained what the ground rules were!

reply

Totally. And the movie version is set in the year 2017 (the book is 2025).
