I couldn't watch it

The whole setup with Worsley everywhere is pretty annoying, but I could get by that. The worst part is Henry VIII. Scott Arthur is a very handsome Henry, but he's constantly chuckling under his breath in every situation and in such a ridiculous way.

I love Worsley and I didn't mind that at all. I don't think it added anything, but it didn't bother me. I'm loving this program. Worsley was granted access to documents that have never been shown anywhere before, and that alone makes the program worth watching. Plus I've always appreciated Worsley's commentaries in these programs. I'm also enjoying all the actors appearing in the dramatisations. I didn't notice the thing you mentioned about HVIII.

I'm watching this series because I was thinking it might actually have some new information.I have been reading about Henry and the six wives for years, and I haven't seen anything here that is new to me. Worsely is annoying with her snarky tone, gossipy comments and constant presence.
So much is left out; comments are truncated. An example: when Anne B. complains (much more diplomatically than she actually did) about Henry's wandering eye, she is told 'Look away." it is recorded that Henry actually told her " I would advise you to close your eyes, madam, as your betters have done before you." Her "betters" was Katharine of Aragon who was royal in her own right, daughter of Ferdinand and Isabella of Spain, and who suffered his affairs and kept silent. The rebuke was meant to be doubly insulting.
Events are compressed. Anne Boleyn was pregnant several times before she 'miscarried of her savior'.
The wives' personalities are not delineated, nor how their personalities are different from what is commonly thought. We are just not told enough about them to understand why Henry fell in love and why he fell out of love.
Worsley is better at writing history than talking about it. Her volume "The Victorian Home" is well worth reading.
I will keep watching the series. I just know better than to take it seriously.
This series is history very lite.

I could be a morning person if morning happened at noon.

I've enjoyed the program except for Worsely insinuating her opinion into things with her "I think that....."

"Vulgarity is no substitute for wit".
