Why do people like Michelle?

In Homecoming she acted like this too cool for anything chick,who just came and went and made random quips. In FFH as a main character,I thought she was very boring and forgettable. When she finds out Peter is Spidey,it felt comedic. I feel if she was not called MJ she would still be a minor character. Does she just get a pass because shes in the MCU and they do no wrong? Liz Allen was forgettable in the last movie too. Emma Stone's Gwen Stacy is still the best love interest/female character in a spider-man movie. I'm glad Sony is moving forward with Spider-man alone and none of these crappy characters are coming with him
