Spidey out of the MCU?

apparently that's whats just happened.

maybe Raimi and Maguire will return for Spiderman 4 lol

Anyway its probably for the best. Spidey was becoming too Avengery with iron man suits, aliens, space, multiverses etc (which has all been done now and better than anyone expected so best not push it so it gets ridiculous with Spiderman head of Avengers) now he can be more grounded and eventually go against Venom

reply

I think both parties just need to compromise. Disney should come down on what they're asking for, but Sony should really give Disney more than what they've had since the last deal considering how much Disney has made Sony with these Spider-Man films.

I thought the pre-existing contract was for Holland to be a part of three ensemble movies and three solo films meaning he should have one solo film left, but it seems like thats not happening now unless a deal can be reached. I'm really hoping that they do, because it'd be a major let down if Spider-Manwas no longer in the MCU.

reply

Does that mean the mid-credit scene cliffhanger will never be resolved? :(

reply

I was just thinking about that today and as far as it's known right now, I would guess not.

Despite the news, I heard Disney and Sony were still in negotiations.

Though honestly Disney should've waited until the contract was up before negotiating for more money I think.

reply

Hopefully they'll sort it, even for one more movie.

Didn't both the Holldan Spider-Man films make more than a billion each? Seems absurd that they can't work something out.

reply

Yeah if they could st least do one more movie to tie up loose ends I'd just be happy with a solid trilogy.

I'm not sure if Homecoming cracked a billion without looking into it, but I know for sure that Far From Home did.

When Far From Home released I started hearing that if the movie didn't pass $1 billion at the box office Sony could take him back regardless of the contract. I don't know how specific the contract really is though if he is still supposed to have one more solo film and all the articles makes it seem like Spider-Man won't be back even for that.

I'm still holding out hope though. Most of the headlines seemed a lot like click bait. I'll give it another couple months until it all seems concrete to me.

reply

Didn't they have a plan for Holland's Spider-Man in future movies? a third movie, a potential avenger member, ect?

Sony's movies aren't doing well critcally or commerically and they should look at the possibilities of selling the Spider-Man rights completely or work with Marvel full time

reply

Why would they??? They can make more money continually rebooting every 5-10 years....lol

reply

Venom didn't do well critically at all, but it made bank which is why we're getting a sequel as well as a Morbius film.

Into the Spider-Verse was sort of the opposite, but with how good people are realizing it is after the fact, I'm sure the next one will make a lot more money.

reply

Into the spiderverse did incredibly at the box office. It looked like an animated tv episode and made more money than antman at the US box office.

WTF? “Venom” made nearly a billion dollars and “Into the Spiderverse” was critically acclaimed as the best Spider-Man film ever and won an Academy Award.

Talk about selective amnesia LOL

reply

>>Anyway its probably for the best. Spidey was becoming too Avengery with iron man suits, aliens, space, multiverses etc

That's a strange thing to say considering they just made the best Spider-Man movie of them all.

reply

Don't even try. Some people just want to see uncle ben die for the fifth time and a red haired mary jane with no personality, because every hot woman in the sixties hat to have red hair. Like black widow, scarlet witch, jean grey...

reply

Actually it wouldn't be the fifth. Maybe the third. And why have a red head with no personality. When you could have a black girl with no personality. We don't need to see Uncle Ben die again. But at least acknowledge that he existed, might be nice. Besides MCU Spider-man spent most of his time being Tony Stark Bitch.

It was an Iron Man-lite movie, but go off LOL

reply

It was not Iron-Man lite. Quit parroting what everyone else says. I never thought once that it was similar to any of the Iron Man films when i saw it. It was just a great time at the cinema, and the best Spider-Man film.

reply

Why lie?

The movie had Spider-Man trying to live up to Iron Man’s memory, while wearing armor designed by Iron-Man, using Iron Man’s technology and fighting an enemy with a grudge against ... Iron Man.

Just facts, bro LOL

reply

>> The movie had Spider-Man trying to live up to Iron Man’s memory

True.

>> while wearing armor designed by Iron-Man

True.

>> using Iron Man’s technology and fighting an enemy with a grudge against ... Iron Man.

True, and still Spider-Man.

reply

It made the most money, doesn't mean it was the best. I know a lot of people including myself watched it because of the Avengers and wanted to see want happened after.

interesting article on the whole thing

This is a Scott Mendelson article. Given that Scott Mendelson has relentlessly been hating on the MCU for half a decade, it's utterly worthless.I for one will not be interested in Sony Spiderman.

reply

He disagrees with you, so you ignore the information?

Smart stuff LOL

Disney to blame for Sony pulling Spider-man out of the MCU?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_1_EOkShdQs

Hours after Deadline Hollywood broke the scoop that Spider-man would be yanked from the MCU, Sony released an official statement confirming this to be the case, while laying all blame squarely at Disney’s feet. Is this a sign that the game, for lack of a better word, is not yet over?

In this editorial, @AndreEinherjar will go through this statement, compare it with the original scoop, and give my take on who is really blame; before exploring if Spider-man man might actually be better off at Sony, and whether or not a bigger game is being played here.

reply

Given that kevin feige really wants spiderman in, I suspect this will somehow be resolved. The MCU needa spiderman as he is the biggest connecting tissue between phase 3 and phase 4. Feige hasbeen screwed with by pearlmutter and then with the james gunn firing. Feige got his way in the end.

reply

Oh give me a break. Put him back into the hands of the same idiots that nearly ruined him twice? Yeah good idea. Disney's being greedy during the negotiations but let's not act like Sony knows what they're doing.

reply

lets not act like Sony knows what they are doing

“Venom” made almost a billion dollars and “Into The Spiderverse” won an Academy Award... without any attachment to the MCU.

Let’s not act like that didn’t happen just last year LOL

reply

This is horrible news for everyone. Seriously Sony is crazy for being so stubborn they weren’t successful with andrew Garfield and failed with the third SpiderMan film with Tobey McGuire why they want him again

Tom Holland was the happiest with being part of the MCU I’m sure he won’t like to be SpiderMan just for Sony and will say goodbye.

And the fans of the MCU get screwed without their from Phase 3 to phase 4.

reply

Oh no... no more Jon Favreau cameos.

Spider-Man will survive. Sony already has Venom, Carnage and Morbius lined up for him to play with, instead of another guy who’s angry at Tony Stark.
