anyone else..

..not going to bother seeing it? (last SM saw at cinema was SM3 - not counting CivilWar/InfinityWar of course)

reply

The movie is great you should go see it

it's fine if you don't want to watch it.
we're all entitled to our preferences.
and i don't mean anything pissy by this, certainly please don't take this as a shot at you.
but every time someone says something like 'am i the only person who doesn't care about this?' or 'is anyone besides me not going?' i always want to say the following:

there are lots & lots of people in the world, and they have as many likes and dislikes as you can possibly imagine.
there are guys who get sexual pleasure out of inserting toothbrushes into their urethra. why? i don't know why but they do. i've seen the videotape. i know they exist.
there are enough guys who like to masturbate to videos of other guys inserting toothbrushes into their urethra for someone to produce porn on that topic.

you are definitely not the only person who is not going to see this movie. that is not that extreme a position.

i'm going a second time today though. i thought it was an absolute blast, & i can't wait to see it again.

My toes crunched when I read your rather descriptive reply about the different nuances of the human animal. With that said my response to the OP would be “So what! Who cares? To each his/her own!”
BTW, I can’t wait to see “Spiderman: Far From Home” this coming week!. I will watch most anything from Marvel...or MCU.

And I’m a 76 year old grandmother! I’ve loved superheroes since Superman in comic books followed by the old tv Superman on a tiny tv screen. Later the campy Batman! As far as I’m concerned, “Keep ‘em comin’!” I enjoy talking about them with my grandkids. I must admit I’m not as sharp as they are, but they are most willing and patient to clue me in! Before I leave this earthly plane, I plan on purchasing *all* movies about the Avengers/Superheroes so I can binge watch to my heart’s content.

oh jeez, i knew i was pushing the boundaries of good taste with that post, but i feel really bad now that i've seen your response.

but i completely agree with everything you've said. i grew up immersed in comics, & spider-man was always my favourite, & as a 50 yr old (almost) myself, it actually makes me feel good that i can still get excited by the films. i'm not out to convert anyone. if bozo_500 doesn't care to see the new spider-man, then that's his business and he is entitled to his preferences.

all i'd ask is that he & everyone should show the same consideration to people who do fancy these films, & not treat other people's excitement with cynicism.

i liked far from home a lot. there is a scene about 2/3s of the way into this movie that i think is one of the weirdest, most exciting & just flat out best scenes in any comic book or action movie i've ever seen.

i hope when you get to see it you enjoy it as much as i did.

“...oh jeez, i knew i was pushing the boundaries of good taste with that post...”

That you did! Cough, Cough! But, you got your point across. No harm...no foul! Now that my toes are un-crunched (if only I could get that image out of my head...🥴). I’ll just put forth again, if someone isn’t going to see a movie, why post an OP about it? If, on the other hand, the movie was viewed, then by all means give a review.

I have my ticket purchased and my seat reserved for Wed. July 10th. I will let you know, damos, my thoughts. There is one preference we most likely will differ about, I’m at odds with the grandkids, I still prefer Tobey McGuire as Spiderman. Why? I’m not sure, unless it was the innocence he portrayed.

reply

that act of inserting something into your urethra is categorized as "sounding" online

damos,

I replied to you stating I would give you my thoughts after seeing the movie. I went, I saw, I conquered! Sad to say...it wasn’t my fav. Oh, I liked it and I’ll watch it again in the future, but I still prefer Tobey McGuire playing Spider-man. I also enjoyed the first 2 movies above all the rest. I’m aware he’s too old to continue playing the part. Although I may be onto something as Spider-man 1 & Spider-man 2 (both Tobey) rank in the top 3. But, he fell off that mountaintop with Spider-man 3. What a let down.😡

BTW, please PM me regarding “there is a scene about 2/3s of the way into this movie that i think is one of the weirdest, most exciting & just flat out best scenes in any comic book or action movie i've ever seen.”

reply

sorry you didn't like it as much as i did, but i'm glad that you overall seemed to enjoy it.

i can pm you if you like, but now that the movie's been out for over a week, i don't think it's too spoilerish to describe the scene - & i'll keep it vague, anyway.

still, spoilers below:

the scene i was referring to was the 'warehouse' scene when mysterio tricks peter, then puts him through a series of confusing & i thought very exciting illusions.

my biggest disappointment with this film is that the concluding battle is much less exciting & interesting than this scene, imo.

reply

“puts him through a series of confusing & i thought very exciting illusions.“ I almost had a spell of vertigo!🥴🤭 I know my eyes crossed as it was so fast paced. I wish I could tolerate 3D. This movie would be fantastic in 3D.

These multi screen theaters put us too close to the screens which affects me. In times past I always sat about 2/3s back. Now with the loss of left ear hearing (too many surgeries) I choose to sit in the main aisle row. I wish some ingenious person would develop encrypted CC or subtitles which could only be seen with special disposable glasses. As with 3D. I miss half the dialogue of movies seen in theaters.

reply

I forgot to inquire. Did you stay for after the credits? The door was left *wide* open for “At Home...Now What?”. 😱 Mysterio announces to the world who Spider-man is...Peter Parker! I got caught up in the moment and purchased a tall Spider-Man drink cup filled with my Coke-Cola! Silly me. I also received a Mysterio figurine which I gave to a little boy.

reply

So new Spiderman is like masturbating to men jamming toothbrushes into their penis, hard pass on both.

reply

I am not gonna bother seeing the last MIB or Shaft sequels(seen all previous installments at cinema/drive-in). I don't feel the need to inform the message boards of those 2 movies.

reply

I don't care for the new Iron-Spiderman and the previous movie sucked so if it streams I'll watch it but won't spend extra to see it.

^^^

not trying to be mean here but when you say the Previous movie sucked, I'm just wondering which movie you are referring to as None of The Holland SM movies fits that Description....

I imagine your talking about Homecoming, but again The Movie was universally loved and got excellent reviews and ratings...that doesnt fit the description of "Sucked"

so I then Thought maybe you might be Referring to 1 of the other Movies Hollands SM was in...But Them Too were Also all Universally Considered Great ....

So I really am not sure Which film your referring to that Sucked....

The only options are 4 films in Civil War,Infinity War, Endgame and Homecoming that in no way fit your "Sucked" description

could you tell me which one of the 4 Universally Praised and Loved films you are referring to when you say the "Previous movie sucked"

thanks

reply

No. Seems like another ANTMAN which was fun but not worth the price of a theater ticket.

reply

Definitely going to rent it at some point, but going to pass on seeing it at the theater.
