There's certainly a desire on the part of the left to redefine what America means, but I don't think it's rooted in hatred. I see it as being more a product of misinformation, and the way we've all been trained since birth to treat politics, religion, and sports as immutable, stay-true-to-your-side-despite-the-facts fervor. All that said, what the hell does that have to do with Spider-Man and Americans/ Europeans? Unless you are so hell-bent on penalizing Hollywood for its liberal bias that you boycott all films, why skip this one in particular? The previous film Homecoming was a fantastic film that transcended the superhero genre and firmly ensconced itself as an all-time classic, and I imagine this one will be quite good, too. Sometimes we have to accept that most of what we see and hear in the media is going to come from people with left-leaning views and just ignore that and enjoy the movie despite its creator's politics.

I haven’t read Scott’s FFH review yet, but to be fair to him he mentioned not too long ago that he was going to continue using “superhero fatigue” sarcastically as long as superhero films continue to do well at/dominate the box office and prove negative critics of this genre wrong.I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt.

I've been on boards like this for 10 years, I've been following box office for 15 Years +

This response have been used for years, back on The IMDB a group of us used to always Laugh and add people who said it to a group we created on Awful trolls

the reason why This is such a pointless and awful response is

Sarcasm goes right over your head doesn't it? Answer something for me. Do we need you to show us what a film made or can we simply check boxoffice mojo or wikipedia?

The other thing is people who follow box office and get passionate about it I find silly. The reason being is it always turns into well my movie made more than yours. It is a measuring stick for whatever reason. It also is used as bragging rights. I said you won't see a dime of this money because by how obsessed you are with it you would assume some of these corporations are paying your rent.

Queen is a prime example of using box office as bragging rights. Whenever a Disney film under performs you can bank on him going around talking about how bad it flopped. Thing is when the Disney film he claims will fail suddenly explodes at the box office he disappears.

Lol the sports point you made was weak. Watching your team play has entertainment value. The only way to analyze the game is by watching the players perform. You can't just look at a stat sheet and determine how the game went that only gets you the result. We can keep up with box office without anyone informing us.

I've followed box office for 15 years and been on forums for 10 years...I'm not exaggerating when I say I have Literally seen HUNDREDS of posters who follow box office explain it in similar sports analogy

On my time on the IMDB boards...I truly cant count the times people would ask "why do you guys follow box office I dont get it?"....and they werent trying to be mean, They just saw a bunch of people talking and discussing box office and being excited about it and truly did not understand why

almost every time without fail, The Sport Analogy came up in describing/explaining why following box office can be fun and exciting...

You may not like the analogy....But literally HUNDREDS of people that follow box office seem to feel it perfectly fits....

I simply find it annoying that most of the time a film's box office is used as bragging rights. Box office is no measurement of quality as I am sure you know. I just hate when people think that it is.

there are certain posters and situations where Using A films Box office to completely OBLITERATE a troll is priceless...

again I'm completely willing to admit I have a personal biased here, Because I have a complete hate and disgust for 1 particular fanbase/Troll....

I was a regular on The IMDB boards in 2013....during this time there was the usual Trolling back and forth between Marvel and DC fans, But honestly nothing too bad....

But In 2013, something happened that Made truly Hate Hardcore DC fans...

When WB announced BvS , simply put Hardcore DC went into the biggest trolling rampage in the history of the internet...

It lasted for 3 years until March 25 2016....

No words can describe the behavior this fan base showed...

They went to every up coming movies board and claimed BvS was going to slaughter that upcoming movies, the guaranteed Marvel Studios would be shut down by 2016...It was 3 years of DC fans going full retard....

In the end no fan base in history troll like DC fans did with BvS, and ultimately no fan base in history got burnt like DC fans did with BvS and The DCEU films...

I will forever take joy in Marvel Films beating DC films even though I love both Marvel and DC equally...

The Behavior showed by this fan base during this 3 year period, Will always make me Want to Brag about Marvel Films box office to Hardcore DC fans and haunt them with the DCEU failures...

I do want to note that I do separate DC fans from "Hardcore DC fans"...I'm not claiming all DC fans engaged in the behavior or deserve the fate they got with the Awful DCEU films...

But for me personally...I absolutely LOVE bragging about a Marvel films box office to a hardcore DC fan....and I love it because they deserve it....

Their action from 2013 until March 25th 2016 when BvS debuted and they had their hopes and dreamed crushed was nothing short of Disgusting....This Minority of Hardcore DC fans deserves to watch DCEU films fail while watching MCU films dominate....

We will have to agree to disagree there. Box office following to me is about as fun as watching paint dry. No excitement only numbers a stat sheet and that is it. To me it is like following an NBA game without seeing any of the players play just a box score and that is it. I get that others enjoy it I just never understood why.

I get your hatred of those biased DC fans. However I am going to flip the script on you. I myself am a huge Nolan fan which makes me a fan of the Dark Knight trilogy. I also am a huge fan of Raimi's Spider-man films the first two at least and of Donner's Superman films.

I can admit I enjoy those more than anything in the MCU. I have no issue with people preferring the MCU over the films I like, I mean it is just opinion we are all entitled to it. Thing is I was on imdb as well and guess what when Avengers came out MCU fans would go well you know the only reason The Dark Knight scored that critically high and won that Oscar was because of Ledger's death.

What that was was an insecurity that The Dark Knight was more beloved than any of the MCU was. That is why the Ledger scapegoat was used. That notion is ignorant because Batman Begins was the most acclaimed Batman film ever even surpassing Burton's films and that was years before Ledger's death. Nolan was already an up and coming film maker with stuff like Memento or Insomnia. Yeah Batman Begins was his first blockbuster film but he still had critical acclaim before the Dark Knight.

The same happened with Raimi's Spider-man films. In a different way. People were talking all kinds of trash about how the Amazing Spider-man put Raimi's films to shame and that the critics were paid off to give Raimi's films acclaim. Wah they are cheese and campy. Gee kind of like a lot of MCU films? I always thought that point was the dumbest point you could make against Raimi's Spider-man films. That was the intent. Thor is every bit as cheese as Spider-man is. One liners silly jokes etc.

Not everything needs to be grounded, gritty and realistic. Also not everything needs to be campy and cheese. Variation is good, otherwise it gets dull quick. I myself lean towards the dark and gritty but there is good and bad in every genre.

Spider-man 2 and The Dark Knight stand above Avengers in terms of critical acclaim. The moment you say that it gets MCU fans so salty.

I knew Batman V Superman Dawn of Justice was going to be a colossal POS! The reason I knew it would be is because Man of Steel sucked and they were rushing to make their own Avengers esque film. Problem is they ignored how Marvel did it. They took their time and built each character up with their own solo film. Let me state again Man of Steel was recycled garbage! It told the origin story of Superman when we had already seen it done well in Donner's Superman. Amazing Spider-man made this same exact mistake although in my book still was better than Man of Steel. All that and they for whatever reason gave all this creative freedom to Zack Snyder the guy who made Sucker Punch! Great job WB.

Batman Begins being an origin story was fine. Batman's origins had never been delved into or told only alluded to in the Burton films. Spider-man Homecoming is better than Amazing Spider-man want to know why? It is because it did not tell a story we had seen already before. Raimi did the origin now do something else. Daredevil the tv series retelling the origin was okay because the Daredevil movie sucked! Superman the movie and Spider-man were cultural phenomenons. Cultural impact and critical acclaim for both those films.

Anyhow point is do not act like that those stupid DC fans were the only ones to make lame claims. The Ledger death excuse is the most cliche BS excuse I have ever heard. Yet I do not see you flame them like you do those lame DC fans. Do those lame DC fans deserve it? Yep by all means fire away but so do those lame MCU fans.

I have no brand biased okay maybe a tad but I just care about a good film no matter what it is.

The "Ledger wouldnt have won an Oscar if he didnt die excuse" has always been for the one instance that Marvel Fans stoop to DC fans level....

I never understood why this small minority of Marvel fans felt the need to do this, I never understood why they couldnt just give DC the credit they deserve for this ONE truly great accomplishment in The TDK and Ledger's ICONIC performance

finally it hit me, Your right...It comes entirely down to They are threatened....

Even Though Marvel Studios has made some of the greatest CBMs of all time...Even Though Marvel has had a decade of unprecedented success and DC has had mainly failure....This small minority of Hardcore Marvel Fans hates The fact that TDK is still Considered By The Majority to be the best CBM of all time and Ledgers Performance is still considered To Be The greatest Performance in a CBM...

I've never felt Marvel Fans were nearly as Bad as DC fans....and the reason is, They dont need to be, Marvel films are successful and have dominated for so long now, Theres just really no reason for Marvel fans to need to stoop to the level DC fans do when it comes to films....

But I dont deny, The Ledger and TDK TROLLING that certain hardcore Marvel fans do is every bit as bad as DC fans....

It was very big back on The IMDB forums and I always responded to the pathetic posters that would stoop to that level and say it..

On these forums I dont see much of it anymore.

But basically my thoughts are....TDK stats wise has the best claim to be considered the greatest CBM of all....

for me Its a complete TIE between Logan, TDK and The Avengers as the greatest, But if were talking only stats, TDK has the numbers to be the greatest...That Bothers hardcore Marvel fans and thats why they stoop to such lows in trying to discredit it.

He gave the greatest Performance in CBM history and would have one the Oscar even if he lived....

for the last decade, for me he's been the greatest CBM villain of all time, But Brolins Thanos overtook him with IW and EG for me....But Just as a Movie villain, I still credit Ledger's joker as the best acting Performance...

as for Spider-Man, I truly dont have much of an opinion here....I've never liked Rami's SM films....I recognize that The Majority consider the first 2 as Great....I just personally am not a fan...

So Ya...I agree with you...

While I have a personally hatred for Hardcore DC fans....I absolutely agree There are Marvel hardcore Fans that are just as bad with TDK and Ledgers excuses...

also I'm glad we agree to disagree about The Sports analogy....

See I get that Thanos accomplished a lot but that is my issue, just because a character accomplished more than another does not make them a better character. Magneto for instance is one of my favorite villains in comic book movie history. I think it is astonishing that he was casted damn well two times in a row. Ian Mckellen and Michael Fassbender are absolutely terrific as Erik Lehnsherr/Magneto. I find the character compelling as well as tragic. Does he accomplish as much as Thanos? Nope but in terms of true acting, and being truly compelling I think he runs circles around Thanos.

Spider-man and Spider-man 2 got trolled a lot. I know you are not a fan but people made lame excuses as to why those got success also.

Personally I am not as big on Avengers as you are. I put Superman the movie, Spider-man 2, The Dark Knight, X-men Days of Future Past as well as Logan above it.

Well This is entirely opinion and down to what you like

I personally feel Thanos Is the greatest threat ever put in a CBM....I feel his motives, Character Ark and The fact that They made an Avengers movie that actually turned out to Be Thanos Movie in Infinity War sets him apart has The best Villain I've ever seen in a CBM, I also Feel The CGI and Special effect are among the best I've seen from a CGI/Mo Cap character along with The Ape movies..

But again This is ONLY my opinion...

I can completely understand How anyone would feel Ledgers Joker is Better...

Or as you said Mckellen's Erik Lehnsherr/Magneto

I would never tell anyone "nope your wrong Thanos Tops Ledgers Joker"

I just simply say "IMO Thano tops Ledgers Joker"

The fact are I recognize Ledger's Joker and Mckellen's Erik Lehnsherr/Magneto are Truly great and worthy of anyone thinking they are the best...

Its much like my Opinion On Logan, TDK and The Avengers.

I feel any of these 3 films could be The greatest CBM ever made...I would have no problem with anyone who has any of these 3 ranked as The Greatest...

for me These 3 CBM's are all equally Great for such completely different reasons, They are all CBM's but They are about as different as you can possibly be, Yet I feel all 3 Hit The Highest Possible level for what they were going for...

Sorry you not like The Avengers as much as me....as I said I dont have much of an opinion On SM2....

I do consider DOFP one of the best CBMs...its just not one of my favorites....

Superman The Movie, Is kinda odd for me...It was way before my time, I'm 33 years old....I've never been a fan old older movies...

While again I recognize Superman The Movie is considered great, for me personally It can never be real high on my lists because I just cant rewatch it...at most I maybe watch it once every 5 years....again I completely admit Its a Good Movie and was HUGE for its time, I just dont enjoy it, I'm spoiled being born in a time when Special effects are so Great...for me its hard watching a movie where the effects are so outdated, When I watch It I see a great movie, But Its just not fun...

and again I have zero problem with you thinking Logan and TDK are better than The Avengers...again for me its a tie, But I can completely understand anyone Having feeling Logan,TDK or the Avengers are Better...

The Dark Knight, Logan and The Avengers do accomplish what they are going for. Thing is though Logan and The Dark Knight strive for more depth and complex narratives. The Avengers does accomplish it's goal with flying colors, but in the end it is a fun popcorn flick with all your favorite heroes coming together.

I can see how it is a wet dream for a comic book nerd. A movie that achieves a higher degree of art by achieving more complex things in my book is always going to edge out a fun film.

The thing about Logan as well as The Dark Knight is even though they are more complex they are still fun films. As fun as Avengers probably not but they still are quite entertaining and move at a great pace. A movie such as Godfather is a great film the only downer is it is not super entertaining or fun to view. Logan and The Dark Knight do not have that issue.

Both Logan and The Dark Knight also subvert certain cliches the genre is typically known for. In the Dark Knight the hero finally actually fails to save the damsel in distress. That never happened in comic book movies prior to that. Logan kills off the main hero and deals with aspect of death and getting older.

Spider-man 2 I know you do not care but care to tell me why? I get not liking it as much as me but I am just curious what is to dislike? Spider-man 2 in my book accomplished more than the Avengers did in terms of being a better film. First of all it until Black Panther was the first film based on a Marvel character to have won a visual effects Oscar.

That train sequence was groundbreaking for the time when the film was made. Avengers had some very nice scenes but no scene as groundbreaking visually for it's time as the train sequence from Spider-man 2.

I am younger than you so I guess I do not relate to your it was before my time point. Alien was before my time, As was Aliens, Blade Runner, Superman the movie, Jaws, Star Wars, Indiana Jones etc. I still love them.

Superman the movie vs Man of Steel is a perfect example as to why I would take a dated film over a sleek looking modern one. Man of Steel looks nicer of course because you know the age gap. Thing is Man of Steel has bland boring lifeless characters who are just so damn dull I cringe at them doing anything. The effects are nice yes but in the end you are going to have more story/character than action and effects.

Therefore I would take a well written film with great characters with dated effects than a film with a bland script, lifeless dull characters and beautiful modern effects. To each his own but yeah that is just me. Maybe I am strange but I do not find Superman the movie dull at all I love how well written and acted it is.

Hmm it is hard for me to make a top 5. Magneto and Joker I consider to be my top two though. Okay I will make a top ten in no particular order.

Heath Ledger's Joker

Ian McKellen/Michael Fassbender's Magneto: These two were so good as him to me it is like Marlon Brando and Robert Deniro as Vito Corleone

Alfred Molina's Doc Ock.

Michael B Jordan's Killmonger

Kevin Bacon's Sebastian Shaw

the character can go from Never before seen LOWS to Never before seen HEIGHTS....

With FFH opened to 185 Million + ...thats literally DOUBLE what The last Sony produced and made Spider-Man movie opened to...

were talking Sony produce 3 bad to disappointing Spider-Man films in a row in SM3, TASM and TASM2...resulting in the character and property hitting ALL TIME lows in every way...

and Marvel Studio gets its hands on Spider-Man it instantly regains its drawing power in HC and now hits Never before seen Heights for the characters...

When you really look at the numbers here...Its astonishing....

the Last Sony produced SM films box office numbers are

Far From Home is Literally Going to almost DOUBLE those Numbers ...

OW-185 Million(Literally more than Doubled)
Dom.400 Million + seem to be a lock, (Literally Doubled)
total-1.1 to 1.2 B+ seems likely(Literally almost Doubled)

The Drawing Power of The MCU is truly like nothing ever seen in Hollywood....

Its not an exaggeration to say, Sony truly had a "BvS" situation on thier hands with Spider-Man after TASM 2...

There was no going forward, Audiences were OUT...The character was at all time Low's...Like with the DCEU, The only thing that could be done was recast and reboot....

lol but Sony made the smartest decision ever and Handed Spider-Man over to Kevin Fiege and The MCU and instead of what WB and the Dead DCEU is going through right now...

Spider-Man Is now in the span of 2 films and 3 years experiencing all time HIGHS....

It's because Feige and co. had the wisdom to give us Spider-Man films that evoke the comic books. The previous 5 films, though some were fun, never felt at all like Spider-Man. You don't dye someone's hair red and get Mary Jane, or have a guy act nerdy and get Peter Parker. The two MCU Spider-Man films feel like Lee and Ditko's creation come to life on the silver screen, and the box office numbers, audience ratings, and critical responses reflect that fact.

The box office numbers do not indicate that, they indicate it is a well received film the end. Superhero movies have become a huge phenomenon. Back when Spider-man was made superhero movies were not the big craze like they are now. X-men and Spider-Man helped pioneer and open the door for superhero films in general. Before those the only ones which were bankable were the big A list characters like Superman and Batman. By that point both of those had had their time but ran there course and gotten stale.

Critics are judging it as a film first. Tons of these critics are not familiar with the comic book history. Accuracy to a comic book or not has no bearing on if the movie is good or not. Do not get me wrong it is nice when stuff is accurate to the source material you love and grew with but in the end what matters is if the movie is good or not. Logan was not accurate to it's source material and was critically loved so no not true at all.

I can highlight many differences between this version of Spider-man and the comics just as much as I could with the previous versions.
