Political hit job

I'm not a Republican and no fan of Bush, Cheney and the rest of that crowd that took us to an unnecessary war in Iraq, but this film was just a political hit job, mostly on Cheney. It just went too far, IMO, with gross overstatements. Also, the voice over narration by Jesse Plemmons (Todd in Breaking Bad), explaining just how bad were the actions by the various characters, mostly Cheney, was a cheap tactic, as voice overs often are. I must say, though, the portrayal of Cheney by Christian Bale was brilliant. Amy Adams as Lynne Cheney was great. It took me a while to recognize that it was Amy. Also Sam Bottoms as Bush was spot on. He had it down, the mannerisms, the voice cadence, the folksy way of talking, and in certain shots, you could swear it was really Bush. Kudos to Bottoms and the makeup dept.

That said, the scene where Cheney shot his friend in the face while quail hunting was hilarious. I doubt it actually happened in the way it's depicted, The group doing the shooting, minus Cheney, are standing in a field taking potshots at the passing birds, when the camera pans over to Cheney sitting in the back seat of his car facing outward with the door open, and he takes a sudden shot from the hip, without aiming, and down goes the friend. I tried finding the scene on YouTube, but no luck there. Too bad.

I hate Cheney as well, but yeah this movie was nothing more than Adam McKay jerking off behind the camera while telling us why we should hate Cheney to the point it become cartoonish.

Was Bush Junior really incompetent (as depicted in the movie Vice)?

Let's review:

The Iraq War - A costly and largely useless debacle that is still plaguing the United States today was his “baby”.

Hurricane Katrina - When Bush finally got around to doing something, it wasn't enough. While New Orleans has come back, the city is a shadow of its former self.

The housing crisis/ economic collapse - Bush was more concerned about the unnecessary war he started than he was the meltdown for the American housing market and the economy.

The Guantanamo detention facility - An abomination that still exists today and which the US cannot close without paying out billions to make the eventual litigation go away.

Afghanistan - George Bush toppled the Taliban-led government and then didn't know what else to do. Despite being in office for nearly eight more years, he did nothing to ameliorate the situation that he created.
