I had no idea this was a kid's movie....

The previews made this seem like it was heavily inspired by GTA Online. Little did I know I would be in a theater filled with screaming children that'd lose their minds at the sight of a YouTube gamer on-screen.

Previews make it seem like it's geared for an adult audience.

reply

They definitely did. It had the potential to be decent if they had up'd the rating but instead you get something very whimsical and cheesy.

reply

And that's why you wait for general availability..

reply

I think the same could be said for just about any movie but I just prefer to watch in the theater regardless.

reply

Breathing in other people's coughs and farts for two hours? No thanks.

reply

In that case, I take it you don't go out at all...?

reply

Sure I do. Outside venues and restaurants. Not joint coffins with stale and poisonous air.

reply

You sit behind me at a restaurant outside or not you are going to bombarded by toxic warfare

reply

I saw it last weekend and didn't really think it was a kids' movie. If you mean it wasn't a hard-R feature, then yes.

reply

Aw man, I know that feeling. It happened to me with The Vampire's Assistant. I should have known better. I had just seen John C. Reilly in Step Brothers and Walk Hard so I thought it was going to be something similar. That was the only time I've ever walked out of a theater before the end of the movie, lol.

reply

I LIKED THE VAMPIRE'S ASSISTANT...I WAS IN MY 20S WHEN IT CAME OUT I BELIEVE.

reply

I was in my 20's as well, and to be fair I never gave it a chance. I just went in expecting something completely different.

reply

IT WAS VERY DIFFERENT FROM HIS USUAL FARE.

reply

Ah, those were real YouTube streamers?
I didn't know, I thought they were just weak actors.

reply

I think a few were, like that guy Ninja. Some, like the dude controlling Channing Tatum I believe was just an actor.

reply

I went today and holy crap. There was multiple kids running up and down the stairs through the entire movie. Yelling and talking loud the entire time. Its never been that bad at a movie in my life.

And to top it off i am deaf in my left ear so it made it quite difficult to hear what the actors were saying.

reply

I didn't wanna go into detail in my original post but suffered through a similar experience. I had the misfortune of sitting behind a nanny who was totally uninterested in the movie so she decided to text/browse IG (with a fully lit backscreen) and intermittently snore through out the duration of the film.

reply

We had a well behaved crowd in the theater, but on screen there was one familiar looking guy who had one brief appearance and the crowd made some noise, and I realized I was never going to figure who this guy is, short of someone telling me here. Very familiar face but I don't even remember what he looked like let alone who he might have been.

reply

I had the opposite experience. About half the people were 50. It on a weekday afternoon during schools hours, so I didn’t expect a lot of kids, but I didn’t expect seniors either.

reply

Interesting. I happened to go on a Tuesday around noon so I was hoping to get the theater mostly to myself but I was obviously wrong lol.

reply

Who do you think is playing GTA Online?

reply

touché

Definite kids film. Paper thin characterisation and plot, lots of cartoony, bright visuals and they added a Truman Show-lite sub plot so Reynolds and Comer could do some actual acting.

I nearly made it the whole way through but gave up around the 75th minute.
