What a rip-off!!!!

Spoilers here!

This one was already done before. Hallmark is recycling their plots (and the first one was much better).

"Christmas Magic" also featured a woman who seems to have died (but is really in a coma-that isn't revealed until the end of the movie). She is assigned by a training angel to fix the problems of a family (father-daughter in the original/father-niece in the remake). The man owns a diner in both. The man is a would-be musician in both. The young girl recognizes her as an angel in both. They fall in love in both. She has to leave as ordered by the senior angel in both.

Give me the original with Lindy Booth. This one was just bad.

So right. The original with Lindy Booth was so much better.

I noticed this also, but in this one, the male lead was a much more talented music artist. In "Christmas Magic", I was dying laughing at how awful the guy was singing his song at the end!

Also, in Christmas Magic, I thought Lindy Booth and the male lead were a very odd match.

reply

Maybe because he wasn't singing, he was just lip syncing.

Feel your heart beat.

reply

That's fine with me. That's why it is called "acting". I wish the lead male in "Christmas Magic" had been lip syncing, rather than assailing my ears!

I agree they were an odd match.

I thought this was a lovely movie in it's own right, but noticed right away that it was a remake of Christmas Magic (which I love--Lindy Booth is one of my favs). That fact bothered me a little throughout the whole movie. Kind of cheapens the Hallmark Hall of Fame series by doing that.

There are only 3 scripts in Hollywood...

I liked A Heavenly Christmas better.

jalapenoman,
Most Hallmark movies are a "rip-off" of some other movie, not necessarily another Hallmark movie. Reese Witherspoon and Mark Ruffalo did something similar. I love Lindy Booth, but the male lead was not up to her caliber. I found him really unlikeable and a poor match for Lindy. I hated the song that he kept playing over and over. I am a big Eric McCormack fan since Perception, so I really liked this movie.

Each to his own and I do respect your opinion.

I like Eric McCormack, too, but Kristen Davis just wasn't up to par. I can't put my finger on it, but her performance seemed forced or too saccharin or something. Eric did a great job, but the chemistry was off. I think Lindy did a better job in the female lead role.
