Probably the best look into Scientology ever

I have seen most of the exposés regarding Scientology going back to the John Sweeny BBC Panorama special. It was that special that piqued my interest in this group, which I previously had none. The followup Panorama, the HBO film, and the Louis Theroux film don't even come close to how effective this one is proving. Made even better that Leah is a highly visual representation of Scientology. After only two episodes, for me it's one of the most compelling things on television.

I have never been too much of a fan of Leah's work, but this series is fantastic. She has gained massive respect from me over her willingness to share these stories in such a personal way by just focusing on individual stories.

I can recommend https://www.amazon.com/Blown-Good-Behind-Curtain-Scientology/dp/0982502206 which is highly readable and fascinating.

Also https://www.amazon.com/Complex-Insider-Exposes-Covert-Scientology/dp/1903582849. The author also did a very long interview (16 parts!) that appears on YouTube. It is fascinating. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ScVBJPGeEio

Also The Jason Beghe interview mentioned on another thread. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KHb0BZyF5Ok But unlike Beghe, The above two were in the Sea Org so you get an inside look.

There is much more on YouTube...Jeff Hawkins, Amy Scobee, Marty Rathbun, Jesse Prince, and more

I find it fascinating. I had read a little bit about it years ago but got more interested in it when my brother inlaw told me about it. He was studying to be a Christian pastor and part of the study included other religions. He talked about the auditing and I was surprised. It sounded odd. I was glad when Leah's book came out and I read it. I found some of it confusing though with the terms so I read a few other books by ex members. I reread Leah's book and was able to understand it better the second time around.

What I find frightening about Scientology is it's members appear powerful to stalk ex members and harass them so much. Plus the members who are famous. I just find it scary. My heart goes out to those who have left and has family members still in it.

Agree. I've watched a lot of docs and read many books on it. This maybe the most well informative but simple understanding of Scientology.
