Anyone else feel...?

Remini is seems completely sincere in this. She doesn't seem like she's necessarily attempting to "smear" the church but to expose it's hidden evils that have destroyed people and families in general. I like to think I'm knowledgeable and well-informed about things like Scientology. I had taken time years ago to read up on it and thought I "got" it--they were just crazy rich people who believed in sci-fi books as spirituality and Afterlife. After viewing this I feel extremely ignorant. I had bought into the stereotype that exists. The church consists of good people trying to do good things who get trapped before they know it! They keep their members by using scare tactics and mental abuse methods. The worst part of it is their looming threat of losing your family if you act on true feelings. And people are so brainwashed that it works. So sad. The only other church (can we just say cult now?) that uses similar brainwashing with much less consequence us the Mormon church which also obtains millions of money in tithing from members. Nothing but good people who are following evil greedy leaders who know exactly what they are doing. Good for Remini and the folks brave enough to step up to expose this garbage. I hope that people watch it and I hope that it lasts awhile because it's important tv viewing.

I applaud Leah and her bravery to go up against the Scientologists. This is NOT a church! Churches do NOT folllow, harass, beat up people.
Good for those who got out. If someone is trying to keep you from leaving YElLL ,Kick Knock their lights out. This is SO Wrong!

I agree that Remini is sincere about what she's trying to do, but on last nights episode, she didn't seem so sure of herself. I also noticed that she chooses her words very carefully. She says she left when she realized the injustices within the organization. But, so far, she has not said that the teachings didn't appeal to her or that she didn't believe in the teachings.

I feel all denominations use brainwashing. Catholicism condemned birth control, so women would continue to have children, even though they couldn't afford to feed or clothe them. The Baptist church told us it was a sin to smoke, drink liquor, dance to secular music, use profanity, and gamble. Just so happens I enjoy everything they told us not to do.

I hope people are watching this and learning what a scary group the "Church" is.

In heaven everything is fine.

@candapbach-88 I think what you are seeing is Leah Remini trying to translate her experience from the language of Scientology, which is its own terminology to everyday language that everyone can understand. Once you have been a part of the Church of Scientology, you use their terms interchangeably with words everyone else knows. You almost have to consciously translate everything as you speak so you are not using their terms.

Additionally, Leah is not trying to take up every point in the technology of Dianetics and Scientology. That is a vast subject with many many points. She is taking up one point which is disconnection and showing how that affects church members. What you may not see is that, for example the people in the last episode who lost their son when they left the church also left friends they had for 30 years and business associates and other people that had been in their lives. The Kahns cannot speak to their son but they also cannot speak potentially to their neighbors, their doctor, the person who got them loan on their house, people they do business with every day or have as client of theirs who's businessis part of their income, etcetera. It is devastating.
