Enough with the crocodile tears

Does she have to fake cry in every single episode? Good on her for speaking out against this cult and all, but really, the crocodile tears aren't helping her side at all. They're extremely obvious.

*warning* Don't feed the trolls

reply

Uhhhhhh. Thanks for the advice, I won't. Anyway...

reply

That was a warning to the rest of us, not you. I'll bite, though and say, it's completely normal to get emotional considering what they're discussing and what most of them have been through. If it bothers you, don't watch.

I think it's real too. She spent a majority of her life in this thing and now realizes how lives have been wasted. She must be one of those weirdo's who has compassion for others.

reply

You couldn't possibly know Leah Remini's heart. You couldn't know that she was 'fake crying.' You have no basis for that judgment.

reply

On one hand she's an actress so she probably does know how to cry on command convincingly but on the other she's spending all this time exposing something she grew up believing in as not only a cult but an evil cult that spends significant time and resources destroying anyone who speaks against them.

I think the tears are real.

I'm actually surprised we don't see Mike Rinder cry more since he was actively involved in the attacks against people. But not everyone expressed guilt the same way and I believe he's genuinely sorry for what he did.

reply

I agree that the tears are real, but also guessing that when she does cry in all the hours of interviews the production folks go "that one's a keeper."

reply

folks go "that one's a keeper."

Okay, that cracked me up. Very good.

Grither, I think the reason Mike doesn't cry is because almost everything Leah learns in the documentary he already knew being No 2 in Scientology for so long. Also all of the things he had to do and go through he probably feels like it's weak to cry in front of others (not like most men aren't that way already)

Sea Org are probably way more likely to know how bad Scientology is, seems like the higher up you go the more you see how the sausage is made and start to realize everyone is being lied to. But when you've spent years of your life just getting to that point I can see how it would take a long time to leave no matter how abusive.

That's what I find interesting, the differences between a normal Scientologist's experiences, regular Sea Org member's, and those who worked DIRECTLY for David Miscavige.

reply

Me too. It's just sad he didn't have more consideration for the evils of CoS until they were levelled at him.

reply

Most of the tears and emotions seem very real to me.

reply

One of the symptoms of PTSD is sudden emotion, like tears, at the slightest provocation/reminder of the trauma or the guilt. For anyone to think that Leah is "faking it" means they don't understand her experience, what she went through and is still going through.
Thank God she is willing to resurrect her own pain and go through it again to get this info out.
