Mike RInder's episode (Fair Game)

I missed this episode the first time around--at least, the first half of it--so I'm watching it now. It fills in some of the blanks that I had from before. I do wonder, though, he says he spent two years in "the hole," but doesn't specify why. For the same unknown reasons that Miscavage would wale away on him? I thought he was high up enough that he was more or less in the inner circle, and immune from that sort of stuff.

Also, listening to Rinder, it sounds like if someone else had become head of the 'church,' instead of Miscavage, he would probably have stayed.
