this movie is so unrealistic, what college has kids humiliating a porn a

ctor? that would never happen at any college anywhere. college kids are grown up. they wouldn't make fun of someone who makes porn or do anything drastic like was done to her character. college kids are adults man. that's child's play. that's high school, immature stuff.

reply

The hypocritical thing about what's going on here is that probably half the college is already engaging in similar activity, just behind closed doors and without a camera present...

The real Miriam Weeks aka Belle Knox said it happened. I don't know of everything in the movie occurred though. I agee that in the 2010s, it seems odd so many students would give her such *beep* for it, over and over. Then again, colleges still have problems with bullying, hazing, rape culture.

I'm surprised the real girl went back to Duke. If it was like she said, I'd transfer.

Stories like this have a way of getting embellished over time, even from the person who experienced it. She probably had a couple minor encounters, sure, but I doubt more than that.

reply

Completely agree with you. No real college student would make fun of or even care that she's a porn-star. They have their own lives and own drama to deal with. I also doubt within such a big university, that everyone would make her their business. She would barely get a passing glance or comment at my university.

Sure, it might not be the most noble or safest profession but with how expensive higher education is, you gotta do what you gotta do to sustain yourself. Some might even admire or compliment her for finding a way to be debt free.

I also find it hard to believe that such a big University like the one she goes to would concern themselves with what a student does OUTSIDE the university.

by the way college is way, way overpriced and too expensive, I mean 60,000 a quarter or a year? that is obscene and is not fair and shouldn't be legal. so this is how it works huh?

we pay an obscene amount to get a career and then make a lot of money if we're lucky but then since we get in such huge debt from college we have to spend years paying off this debt with our career. and I mean 10 years or more. geez, all this doesn't seem worth it to me. just live meekly, dont' spend too much money and dont' go to college and enjoy your life.

Aren't there public colleges that doesn't cost like 60k a year?

The only way it makes sense to go to an expensive college is, that you are already an alumni offspring and you already have family/connections to lean on. With the very small exception that you are an exceptional person, then most of those get an full scholarship anyway.

10 years ago, the most expensive college's adverts claimed, that they can ensure you get a job. Now they simply say they can prepare you better.

They made many studies about regular jobs you need a college degree for and how much more you get if you are from a expensive college with a name. They found out that in most cases it doesn't matter. The more money comes from the status of the job, and the jobs with status are not for the public. Those are mostly within certain circles of the elites.

Expensive colleges paid by dept is mostly just a way to scam normal people this days.

reply

exactly so now I see that universities really scam you. the character in this movie had to pay for the 60, 000 dollars a year though or some of it anyway. just dont' know how someone could possibly afford that even if they get help from their parents. I mean unless you are rich or come from a rich family or have a scholarship, you can't afford it unless you do porn or something, lol.

reply

well, it clearly happened at Duke, soooo.

not the strangers putting her down as she walks, or spray painting slut on a door, or a stranger knocking on her door where her dorm is, or a guy asking her to have sex with him at a bar with his friends and by the way how could she get into a bar if she was only 18? that was really stupid. and why was it like she had a committed a crime if it was in north Carolina? what, is porn illegal there?

college is only for people who want to get an education or play sports and get an education so then the people change from being immature kids who dont' care about their grades in high school to adults who are only there to get an education for themselves and play sports and get an education.

reply

Oh, believe me. They will and can. If the right target comes along, the cattiness and immaturity comes out.

no it doesn't never, this is college we are talking about I went to college and people weren't outwardly immature or picking on people for how they act or look or anything. that is high school. it becomes completely different in college. no more beating up kids or anything like that.

reply

There are plenty of women who would consider her a "whore" for enjoying sex, and plenty of men who feel that women should only enjoy sex with *them* and nobody else.

Just because you're lucky enough not to know anyone like this doesn't mean they don't exist.

I'm saying these things are impossible to have happened in college not because I didn't experience them but because it's impossible for these things to happen in college. this is factually correct and true.

just because they would consider her a whore doesn't mean that they would call her one to her face.

reply

Of course it's unrealistic. She'd have an onlyfans.
