Good idea, bad writing

The actors are fine, the directing is fine, but the writing is awful. An example of how acting and directing cannot make lousy scripts into good drama.

Characters act stupidly and unbelievably for the blatant reason that they need to move the plot in a certain direction or stir up certain concerns. The writers can't get them there or stir up those concerns organically because they write from the outside-in. They write in clichés. It's by-the-numbers.

A unique premise with lots of potential, but poor execution. The idea is cable, the execution is network. Put them together, the lackluster writing only stands out the more.
