For a kid with a high IQ...

Sheldon is quite a stupid jerk. Calling his memaw and his parents selfish. Also attempting an unauthorized trip to the mental hospital to visit Sturgis. I'll be he got the a$$ whoppin' of his life for that!

reply

He has a high I.Q. but he's still a child. He's immature with very little life experience. Even when Sheldon grows up he still does not demonstrate a very high understanding of emotions or correct behavior.

reply

I'm guessing you've never met a person on the Autism Spectrum. It's very common for people on the Spectrum to have trouble empathizing with others. They tend to be very logical and don't always understand why other people often make decisions based on emotions as well as logic.

reply

No, and thank God I haven't!

reply

You might try being more thoughtful about people with disabilities. Sheldon is just a comic character, but there are a lot of good people who struggle with society, and ignoring them is ignoble.

reply

I'd give them a chance.

reply

It's unfortunate that you say that. While you would probably have to get used to being around someone that tends to be logical and not incredibly empathetic, there are actually a lot of positives. They tend to be people who are very consistent in their way of thinking and in their behaviors. They are rule followers and adapt very easily when someone tells them, "That's just the rule."

It's easy to think of anyone with a neurological difference as being a pain in the butt to be around, but it's just not quite that simply. Learn a little bit about it and expand your world. There are very few people in this world that do not have some type of quirk. The best thing to do is learn to adapt and accept that not everyone is the same.

Sheldon isn't being rude, and he isn't a "stupid jerk." He's simply seeing the world through his own eyes, much like you are seeing Sheldon's world through your eyes. Try seeing the world through Sheldon's eyes before judging him for not seeing the world through your eyes.

At the most basic level, autistic kids are retarded and even retarded kids can be taught to do things if you use the right forms of training and motivation. No you couldn't teach a retarded kid to do advanced math, but there was a school in Rhode Island that took retarded kids that would self harm and trained them not to... in that instance they used shock belts and shocked the kids when they tried to hurt themselves - it worked and after a while none were required to wear helmets or other things to keep them from hurting themselves. That same principle would work on an autistic kid, you couldn't make them truly feel emotions but you could eliminate their ability to be rude and could train them to behave like a chik-fil-a employee that say my pleasure anytime they were told to do something.

The only reason you have rude autistic kids is that the parents are too soft on them. A hard core ass whipping would cure most of them in a matter of days of being rude little shits. Frankly a hard core ass whipping when they have fits would also cure them of have those fits. Autistic kids having melt downs are just a sign of snowflake parents.

reply

I don’t mean to be rude, but you don’t know what you’re talking about. First individuals on the autism spectrum are not “mentally retarded.” They respond different neurologically. In fact, many are extremely intelligent and excellent in math and science. Second, they do feel emotions. They just don’t always empathize with others.

Please educate yourself. Your suggestions are beyond archaic.

reply

They are mentally retarded. Quite literally mental retardation applies to ones mental capacity and the autistic person suffers from MENTAL retardation. At the very core a person is defined by physical and mental abilities. Autism doesn't impact the physical side so its mental. They are not progressing mentally to the same place where a normal person is so by definition that is a form of retardation. It is only the liberal loons that refuse to accept words for what they are that want to push bullshit words like "special" on people that are RETARDED. There is nothing wrong with someone being labeled retarded anymore than their is something wrong with someone being labeled a genius. It is what it is. If liberal loons could accept reality for what it is then maybe everyone could move forward, but ignoring reality because you don't like it is never going to help the autistic person.

reply

In order to accept reality, you have to actually know what reality is. You remain woefully ignorant on the subject. Autism in not a mental disorder, it is a neurodevelopmental disorder. You do not know what autism is, and you are lumping it in with anything that is different from your own experience.

The thing is, I didn’t criticize you for using the word “retarded,” and I didn’t say anything about “labels.” I simply said you used the word incorrectly by applying it to autism.

It’s easier to insult people who are different than it is to try to understand. So really, you are behaving just like Sheldon. Trying to learn about someone on the autism spectrum takes effort, time and patience.

reply

Well if you want to use words at least use the right words... Your previous comment you spelled retarded as restarted... now your using the except when you should be using the word accept.

But clearly your reading comprehension skills are as piss poor as your vocabulary. Autism isn't an issue with the person's body it is with their mind, therefore you would lump it into the mental category not the physical one.... So stop trying to kid yourself. It is pretty clear from your attempted defense of autistic kids that your little kid is autistic. If you want to do what's right for him stop pretending he is some uber genius - he isn't. He is retarded and the sooner you accept it the sooner you can deal with it properly. So when he has a melt down smack the crap out of him and after a while he'll stop having meltdowns... Even the most retarded human will try to avoid pain... clearly cuddles and hugs don't work.

reply

I did not notice my typos. Thank you for pointing them out. They have been corrected.

Sheldon is clearly a genius, so wouldn't that be the opposite of your definition or retarded?

It's ok that you don't know what Autism is. What's not ok is that you are willfully choosing to remain ignorant and still judge. Just accept the fact that there are things you don't know and take steps to learn. No one knows everything, but when we refuse to learn about things we don't know, we refuse to grow.

reply

Blah Blah Blah... the bottom line is Sheldon doesn't even have autism, not once in the show or Big Bang Theory had he ever been stated to have autism... But oh how you parents of little retarded autistic kids love to pretend that Sheldon is one of yours. Which again is just your ignorance and stupidity in not accepting autism for what it is. It isn't just being socially backward genius... and deep down you know it.

reply

When you are too afraid to admit you don't know something, I guess throwing insults is your only option.

reply

No... just got tired of trying to explain something to someone that refuses to accept reality.

reply

The facts aren't on your side. You simply do not know what autism is, so explaining why it is what you think it is will never work.

When you don't know what you're talking about, the best thing to do is stop trying to "explain" why you're right and actually learn that which you do not know.

reply

I already explained it in very simple terms any idiot could understand... It isn't physical then it must be mental.. it isn't normal... it isn't advanced so the means it is retarded. Fucking stop trying to pretend your little retard is special. Special isn't a synonym for retarded... But retarded is a synonym for autistic. Rainman was just a movie, autistic kids aren't geniuses they are retarded.

reply

You can explain your ideas until your blue in the face. It's not that I don't understand what you're saying. It's just that you're wrong. Explaining yourself over and over again is not going to suddenly that fact.

There is a reason they call it the autism spectrum. There are those on the spectrum with very high IQ's (like Sheldon or Rainman), there are those who are not very intelligent, there are many who cannot speak and there are thousands who function somewhere in between. I know several kids in our school district who are on the autism spectrum. They are very high functioning with above average intelligence - nowhere near genius, but very bright. They are also different as night and day. But none of them would qualify as "retarded."

My guess would be that you actually know individuals on the autism spectrum. You might not even realize they have autism. I've been amazed at the number of people who didn't know that the individuals at our school are on the spectrum. I mean, it's pretty clear they have some type of struggle, but not everyone realizes they have autism.

reply

The reality is you are one of those loony idiots that wants to believe everyone has autism so you won't feel bad about your little retarded spawn. The truth is autism is way over diagnosed because schools realized that they could get more money from the government if they have more retards. Go look at the reports and you'll see the truth. Now stop yapping and go play with your little tard.

reply

Insulting other people only makes your arguments weaker.

reply

Pretending your tard is special doesn't make him a genus does it. No point in trying to give you facts because you are in denial and won't accept them so the only thing left is to just poke a stick at the monkey and watch it squeal. Poke Poke.

reply

Sad that you refuse to learn and grow as a person.

reply

Talking about yourself monkey?

reply

Only if you're calling yourself a monkey!

Seriously, you don't seem to believe anything I have to say. Do you believe the experts?

From webmd:

"What Is Autism? Autism, also called autism spectrum disorder (ASD), is a complicated condition that includes problems with communication and behavior. It can involve a wide range of symptoms and skills. ASD can be a minor problem or a disability that needs full-time care in a special facility. People with autism have trouble with communication. They have trouble understanding what other people think and feel. This makes it hard for them to express themselves, either with words or through gestures, facial expressions, and touch."

From Mayo Clinic:

"Autism spectrum disorder is a condition related to brain development that impacts how a person perceives and socializes with others, causing problems in social interaction and communication. The disorder also includes limited and repetitive patterns of behavior. The term "spectrum" in autism spectrum disorder refers to the wide range of symptoms and severity."

reply

Okay monkey did you bother to read what you quoted? Pretty fucking l clear from your own sources that it is a mental problem in the retards brain. SO HE IS FUCKING RETARDED. No go back to flinging shit monkey because it seems to be what you do best.

reply

If you refuse to learn, you refuse to learn. Like I tell my students, I can explain it to you, I can understand it for you.

reply

I feel sorry for any student misfortunate enough to have to deal with your ignorance monkey. Do the world a favor and educate yourself before you screw up the minds of innocent children. You can't even seem to grasp the things you quote, totally hopeless.

reply

You don't believe the experts in the medical field?

You're hopeless!

reply

Hey, Ziggy. Thomas is right...about all of it really...

reply

No, he isn't. Google autism.

reply

Yes, he is.

Google Epstein didn't kill himself.

reply

You're annoying like somebody with autism...all you're doing is making me (and presumably Thomas) resent people with autism even more.

So do you like people with autism or not? It's hard to tell.

I'm starting to hate them...please enlighten me more. Lol

reply

If she had autism she would just be rocking in a corner somewhere... sadly she is just one of those parents that refuses to accept that their kid is mentally retarded and wants to pretend they are some genius that is just hidden by some mystical force. It is only maddening because these are the same misguided fools that would have the world call retarded kids "special" as if putting a different label on them will change who they actually are... In a perfect world the state would take kids from parents that call their retarded kids special for the good of the kids. Those kids might have a chance of getting the help they need if the people taking care of them actually accepted that they aren't special, that they are retarded and need to be treated as such.

reply

I know you have autism and "don't get it".
But what I'm doing now is called "trolling".

reply

Sorry to disappoint you. I actually do know what I'm talking about, and I don't have autism.

Weird that you are trolling. Have fun!

reply

Okay, monkey look at what he said... the first line,
"I know you have austim and "don't get it"."

that was the trolling you ignorant monkey, yet you were too stupid to even understand that.

reply

He said, "what I'm doing now is called "trolling"." hence the reason I said it was weird that he was choosing to troll.

reply

You are retarded. Ever heard of Wikipedia?

reply

Nice try cunt.

True. Which is why he identifies with Mr. Spock so much.

reply

I'm guessing you've never met a person on the Autism Spectrum.

Does Sheldon actually have Autism though? Is that in the script?

reply

He certainly exhibits many of the traits of someone on the Autism Spectrum, but I don’t know if it’s in the script. In the 80s, I don’t think someone like Sheldon would have been diagnosed with Autism (hence the reason no one really knew how to deal with him).

reply

Exactly. Autism, bipolar, OCD and the others hadn't even been invented yet. 🤣

reply

If he really was raised in Texas in the 80's then it was a given he would have had his ass smacked big time. That is the one thing that makes little sense in the whole show. He might have gotten away with the way he acts if he was raised in a soft state like California where he might have been raised by hippy parents... but to be in Texas with a dad that was a football coach... well it simply couldn't have played out the way it does... at the very least if mom was so protective of him and his attitude the marriage would have already ended... though more likely than not the dad would have introduced him to a severe ass whopping to the point that he would have either changed his attitude or died trying to hold out. That's the part that just boggles the mind.

reply

I'm actually going to agree with you.

reply

Because all Texans are exact clones of each other amirite? If it's not stereotypical, it must be fake.

reply

Today, they aren't. But this was the 80's and at that time period you didn't find liberal loons in Texas, not in Austin not anywhere in Texas. If you had ever spent any time there you would know it was what a snowflake of today would consider hell.

reply

High IQ has nothing to do with social/relationship skills.

reply

I actually think Sheldon is the weakest link in the show.

Without Sheldon the show would definitely be a drama.

I'm totally fine with that.

Given it's numbers, I think CBS would be fine with that as a well.

Cancel "The Unicorn" or whatever else nobody is watching and expand the show into an hour format.

reply

Without Sheldon, the show may as well be called something else.

reply

The older brother is very good.

reply

I agree.

reply

You forget that a child prodigy is a CHILD as well as a PRODIGY.

reply

They pointed that out several times in TBBT. He’s a genius, but socially retarded.
