Looks like Christmas but, isn't.
First half hour wanders without color (even from the charismatic Anne Heche!) or tension of any kind. This is fine if they are lulling us into trap where the story springs forward with a snappy plot twist. For the first act we are treated to petty squabbles over fairly silly things that make no main character appealing.
Some sort of mundane plot device is wheeled into act 2. This happens while a romance spasmodically blooms. One problem is that the male lead seems about 15 years younger than our Ms Heche; both in appearance and demeanor. Not great for a romantic suspension of disbelief.
So, are Hallmark movies where the young get their first chances and the 50+ actors get some last modest checks and lead billing? Not complaining about this. There is a need for this sort of mechanism. All I can say is actors need to try to come in strong or go out strong. It's a tough business.
Comparing it to another Christmas movie "Silver Bells" (with Anne Heche) that was the teabag...this is like trying to use a teabag twice...yep, weak tea.
