Wtf was this ?! I’ll be surprised if the series last long

It was awful

reply

Really? I recorded it and plan to watch tonight.

reply

It was bad. How can you take a concept like Snowpiercer and turn it into another cop show...?

reply

what the fuck, Are you saying they turned it into another NCIS.

reply

Spoilers for ep. 1 ahead, I guess.

I suppose we have to see how the season progresses (which I don't have a desire to do really) but in the first ep. they pull the main guy from the tail to investigate a murder on the train because he was a detective before everything froze. So what I gather from that is that there's going to be a fair amount of murder-mystery solving involved. I don't tune in to Snowpiercer for that.

reply

* Possible spoiler (through ep 4)

It seems the murder-mystery angle is over for now. I find myself wanting to see what comes next, but I don't see it becoming "crime of the week" or "NCIS train."

reply

Thanks for the info, aavfreak. I might check the rest out if that's the case :)

reply

The second season was already in production before the covid pandemic.

reply

Yeah, if you saw the movie, you know what happens. And, the whole thing is so impossible to believe in the first place. The train has to keep going around the world. Ummm, why? TNT is clearly out of ideas on this one.

reply

The 2013 Snowpiercer movie was written and directed by Bong Joon-ho. He directed Parasite (2019) the first foreign film to win the Best Picture Oscar.

I don't know why someone would want to make a TV series out of this. Maybe a bunch of sponsors from ski equipment, trains, or snow activities?

reply

I agree, the series is too intelligent for stupid audiences who watch big bang theory, but at the same time too stupid for intelligent audiences that watch Westworld and Rick and Morty.

reply

Aww your butt is hurt 🤣

reply

I think you need to recalibrate that scale. Big Bang Theory is more intelligent than Westworld, certainly after the latter’s first season. BBT always strikes me as such a strange go-to for an example of lowest-common-denominator entertainment for the drooling masses, as the vocabulary alone used by Sheldon is way beyond what you will find on a legitimately stupid sitcom like Full House.

Rick and Morty is definitely way more intelligent than any of the above. As are Better Call Saul and Tales From the Loop.

reply

Then you are a liar.

reply

What exactly am I lying about, pray tell?

reply

Everything, you are lying about everything. That's what a liar does.

reply

I am not lying about anything, but I am curious what you think I am lying about and why. That was just such a random thing to say.

reply

You just repeated the same question, but with more words.

reply

Yes, because I’d like to know why you called me a liar. You didn’t give me anything new to work with, so I persisted. I’m not the one being evasive. Why do you refuse to answer a straightforward question?

reply

"Yes, because I’d like to know why you called me a liar."

You are a liar because you lie.

"You didn’t give me anything new to work with, so I persisted."

Everything is the thing that you are lying about.

"I’m not the one being evasive."

DOUBT!

"Why do you refuse to answer a straightforward question?"

You are a liar because you lie, the thing that you lie about is everything. Those are the facts.

reply

Mmmhmm.

reply

That was pretty much my reaction to the movie. I was genuinely shocked when I heard they were going to try and make it into a series.
