Can Someone Explain The Singing Costume Guy?

I don't know what that costume was... It kind of reminded me of Pan or something. Then he started singing at the fire there and that part wasn't subtitled... so I had no idea what the lyrics were. That whole sequence with the Christmas party and the fire I came on here thinking there would be some discussion about it and some deeper meaning behind it but I don't think there is. It left me confused.
