I wouldn't call Dmitri a hero.

I wouldn't even call him an anti-hero. Instead I would call him an honorable scumbag (like Tony Montana). One of the main reasons his area of Staten Island became the way it did was because of him and his drug operation. So basically, he unfucked a situation that he had a HUGE part in fucking up.

The real hero is Nya.

I agree, one of the things I hated most about the movie was how he gets immortalized as some hero.

Have a short review of this movie if anyone is interested. If you feel there is something I could be doing better, I would definitely love to hear it. Review here - https://youtu.be/7yS9vsI1gg8

You're kind of right. I'm not sure how redeemable he is, even though we were glad to see him fight back and help people towards the end.

But prior to this, you can bet he was involved in all sorts of horrible street violence, all for his own empire. Still, the film seems to suggest he will be heralded a hero and a sort of symbolic figure for the future resistance groups. He will surely be a heavily flawed one.
