The original is a huge part of my childhood back at 1994...

And this remake went against everything it stood for. The only good things about the remake was the decent casting, the nice visual aesthetics, and Hans Zimmer reprising his score, but it still fails on every level. It completely strips and butchers the emotional moments the original had (mostly Mufasa's death which was a HUGE slap in the face), all of the characters have been reduced to one-dimensional and bland, and having photo realistic CGI on the animal designs just didn't work for me. Not to mention that the story is mostly a retread of the original minus the originality. At least the Cinderella and Jungle Book remakes did something different while paying homages to the original animated versions. And while the Aladdin remake was also a disappointment, at least the CGI version of Abu had some expressions, something this remake apparently lacks.

Look, I don't wanna be too harsh on this film, but I just love the original movie so much.
