"Live action"

It should be noted that this is NOT live action. (I've never seen a talking lion or any other talking animal, save for maybe a parrot.) This is photo-realistic animation just like the last Jungle Book.

Didn't "The Jungle Book" have a few human actors in it, to give it some claim to the title of "live action"?

No, this is just a different style of cartoon.

reply

Yes. I forgot about that. I was so amazed at the CGI animation. I forgot about Mowgli.

reply

Just as CGI as any "Toy Story" installment. They may have shot background footage in actual locations, digitized it, then integrated it into the rest of the material, but that's it.

Agreed!

It’s not like any of the cast and crew have called it live-action. Favreau himself stated that the entire film is computer generated with the exception of a single shot.

As for everyone else, well sure quite a few people -understandably - believed that it was mostly/only the animals that were CGI. The film’s settings are a different story. But I have read numerous articles on The Lion King and it’s clear, at least to me, that enough people are aware this isn’t a “live action” adaptation.

With that said, the visuals are really something.
