shareThe car driving away looked like the Sheriff's car, so I assumed it was Howard. Most cops out there would have a rifle in case of wild animal problems... or stray attack Mantises!
Ben seemed to be blackmailing Howard, too, given Howard's statement about Ben "knowing what I did." Howard probably got fed up with paying and perhaps some day being squealed on. So, one of the few things that made sense in this film was Howard shooting Ben when he had a chance.
Pretty disappointing overall. I thought at least it should be the wife killing those people. It would explain Ray's truck being in town when little Crissie was killed.
The wife as the killer would have been REALLY contrived. As it stands, it was predictable, but it made sense.
Ray's truck was in town when Crissie was killed because he came up to look at the motel.
