one thing i don't understand.....(spoilers)

if the 2 kids that originally got away saw the face of their kidnapper (and they did), then how could the police have pinned it on the other guy (i think his name was Cole Gordon)? when shown a picture of the guy (Gordon) that was arrested for their kidnapping, they would have just said, "that's not him."

I thought this was a great movie, but i can't understand this huge plot hole. did i miss something that explained this?

I'm wondering if they were supposed to either be:
A. Super traumatized, disoriented, and confused enough to identify the wrong person
B. Shaken up & told by real killer that if they ever reveal who he was that he'd kill them (or their families or something)

I think that Greg Harper was just trying to make it up as he went. He didn't expect to find a second kid hiding in his house. If he had realized that Mindy was not alone, I figure he would have killed the boys rather than leave them alive in the camper. As it was, he probably hoped to get back to them, probably move them and have their bodies found elsewhere or not at all. Apparently the camper was well outside the area that was being searched or it would have been found already.
It seems like the story probably hangs together well enough that there may not be any glaring plot holes...

You didn't address the OP's question. The boys that got away 15 yrs old, one of which is currently the male frogger in the house, identified the wrong killer when they were kids. Why? Probably traumatized, or threatened by the detective to pinpoint the wrong guy, or else bad things will happen to them or their families. It's up to us to guess... I guess.

It's funny. I remember nothing of this movie. I checked my records and I had viewed it not much over two years ago and it looks like I commented while looking up the film to see what others had to say about it... Now, it's like a dream I can barely recall having had and would not even remember that if I hadn't noticed your comment and looked it up. Weird.

kids were probably traumatized and more recently remembered.
There's a possibility that the Yoshi pez dispenser that was in the son's room jogged the memory of the phrogger also.

Its a minor plothole indeed, but a Red Herring suggesting that the original Serial Kidnapper is in Prison and that the strange events that occurred in the first half are paranormal.

I also don't understand one more thing; After the Phroggers moved in the house, Alec would have surely realized that they are living in the kidnapper's house BUT says nothing to his girlfriend and does nothing about the ongoing case of Justin Whiter!!
