SOOOO excited for this!

I've watched both seasons of SAS: Who Dares Wins and was wishing there was a US version...then I saw an article about this! I can't wait!

They let 7 women in the program so I'm especially curious to see how well they do as compared to the men and if they are treated any differently by the instructors. I would sign up for this in a heartbeat if I knew when, where and how.

I've stood watch on the Enterprise, sailed with Capt Kirk, and learned engineering from Scotty.

Well sorry to dissapoint you but this ain't Buds...this Spuds.

reply

Agreed. Buds for dummies maybe.

The women as expected don't belong and were the first to quit. They really didn't need to add that gimmick.

reply

Are you watching the show? The first one to quit was a guy. The women have surprised me in that many stuck it out when other men were dropping and there is still one woman in it so far. My guess is she will get past the drown proofing stage. What stages will come after that? I am expecting a few more team building phases and maybe an individual phase and then a rigorous phase where everyone has to dig down deep to keep going. The final team phase might be part of that event or right after it.

The focus of the show is not a competition against others but a struggle with your focus and commitment. The fourth episode was a great example of that.

To the folks that are still in the experiment so far I give them a salute but more is to come.

If they added a disabled person to a second season would you say that was a gimmick? Noah Galloway is an example of someone that could probably handle these challenges for sure but he has military experience. I would hate to seem him have to endure the events but at the same time I would have to admit I would probably watch because he is such a bad ass.

reply

It is a gimmick Einstein...it's called TV. Like Survivor season 120.
Women were a great t and a addition, and some were hard, but there's a reason women are not special forces operators, they are not as physically strong as men and until genetics changes...it will always be that way, so deal with it , and why would someone with a disability ve on the show? Is this the PC bull moron generation? Didn't you see the able bodied , badass tattooed wannabes end up looking like soup-sandwiches? Haha

reply

I like this show very much so I agree that it's a test of character. But that's not all it takes, it's physically very hard too.

Women are tougher than men mentally so that's not an issue.

Looks like the Ranger side of the SOF community will be getting its first female member. A female officer recently completed the Ranger Selection Course in December 2016 and be joining the 75th Ranger Regiment in the spring.

The bare minimum requirements include:

A score of 240 on the Army Physical Fitness Test, with 6 chin-ups completed.

A five-mile run in 40 minutes or less.

A 12-mile ruck march in three hours or less with a 35-pound pack.

Completion of the Ranger Swim Ability Evaluation.

A full psychological screening.

A Commander's Board screening.

Three females have completed the 3 week Ranger School which is a requirement for the Ranger Selection program. They get to wear the Ranger tab and returned to their units.

Let us see how she does in the real world. If she can handle the heavier loads that will be required down the road she might be a game changer.

Sorry to bust the bubble, but Rangers are NOT part of SOG, SOF, SOCCENT. These are the special
Forces community....But I do give her credit, just keep it all in perspective sir, Army rangers are like marine recon, very tough...But they ain't tip o the spear
Bud.
Have. A nice day

reply

No bubble to burst but they are officially part of SOF, SOCCENT, have been for over 20 years. I forget when it happened but I will check. Marine Force Recon was also included too. Lots of jokes and stories about who is tougher but to me they have a different more focused mission.

Nevertheless though it might be an important step if she can keep up but she will be a role model to future women that might get them motivated earlier on to get focused on this type of endeavor.

Don't need to look it up my first cousin is and has been an instructor at fort Benning for 10 years, after breaking his back on a fast rope decent in country on 4 th deployment,
If you are former military you should know better, but my money says nope just John Q civi, which is cool

You do what you do well, leave what u know 0 abut to the people who do know and maybe u learn a thing or two.
Good day sir

That would be very strange. The USASocom site still includes the Rangers and other units as part of their command. http://www.socom.mil/public-affairs/command-information/fact-book

Download and checkout any of the annual fact books. Might need to point out going to Ranger school allows the candidate to wear the Ranger tab but to qualify for a Ranger unit requires another selection phase that is longer.
