Why?
Can't they just leave Classic TV be classic, not really funny at all, and not a patch on the original.

shareI loved it and thought it captured the spirit of original in a contempoary setting. Very funny too.
It's a shame it's only a one off. Still, each to their own.
SURRENDER DOROTHY
I thought it was a good update as well.
It's that man again!!
It was absolutely brilliant - my wife and I were totally entertained throughout. I must admit to being sceptical before I saw it but it was brilliantly and lovingly done. There were some wonderful one-liners, the characterisation was perfect and altogether it made a wonderful episode. We are very much looking forward to seeing many more of them.
Make it a series-and could we have his Aunt Ingrid turning up as well? His father was originally played by Nick Lyndhurst.
sharePorridge is officially my favourite show of all time, so naturally I was wary of this one off production. I'm not surprised to see some of the scorn poured on it in the press, but I liked it and thought the writing was very astute for the modern age - even if I feel they really didn't need to use a couple of jokes from the original series.
Liked it, cheered me up.
The Spikeopath - Hospital Number 217
Got to say the three gnomes. Or was it two ! Love was delivered perfectly. Barker would have bee proud !
shareI agree with @Jason-Boulton, the two finger salute was a nice touch, it's at 28:40 http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b07tlt91/porridge.
shareYeah agreed, it was quite poor. They even ticked off all the politically correct boxes, Fletcher's mates were black and asian, the warden was a woman, sigh... they make millions each year from the tv license why can't they put the money into new ideas instead of digging up the past constantly?
