I just finished watching the new trailer:

While over all I enjoyed it, I found myself wondering about the bizare and pointless changes to the Adam West series including the car leaping around like it was the General Lee, and flying out into the air from the Batcave. What's happened to the classic scene of the car exiting the Batcave? Why the change? Everybody knows that classic stock shot if they are looking at this trailer.

Well, if we want to nitpick, Commissioner Gordon didn't sport a mustache in the 1966 series either. But I'm not going to complain about animators taking advantage of the animation medium.

Yes, and that's another one, but it could be they couldn't get the likeness rights to certain characters. But rights or not, the Batmoviles isn't hte General Lee.

I just hope Batgirl isn't in it.

I bet she would have made at least a cameo if we hadn't lost Yvonne Craig last year.

Honestly, I am disappointed. It does not capture the look or feel of the series. Batman does not look like West. Robin does not look like Ward. The Penguin and Gordon look awful. This looks like a generic Batman and Robin. They look more Super Friends than the series. Plus I did not catch any of the humor on the series. This could have and should have looked like an episode of the series. Newmar doesn't even speak in any of the trailers I saw.

......Zing!

Haters gotta hate. For the record, I disagree with almost everything you say here. You're right about one thing: we don't hear Newmar in the trailer. Also, the vocal performances of Adam West and Burt Ward are not as strong as they could have been. I wonder if they are trying too hard to ape what they were doing 50 years ago. West sounds better when he is just parodying himself on Family Guy and The Simpsons.

I am not a hater. I think this would have been better if it were and animated version on their show. It could have and should have. This looks like batman and Robin on Scooby Doo minus Scooby Doo. It looks like a half ax attempt.

It's don't know how you call me a hater then turnaround and only offer negative comments.

As for the vocal performances of West and Ward. Of course they ain't strong particularly West....HE IS 88 YEARS OLD! Of all the things to knock. And Ward is 70 years old playing a 16 year old. You should cut them slack there. None of the problems here are Ward, West or Newmars faults. Again it appears they first did the animation than said wouldn't it be wonderful if we could get Ward, West and Newmsr to add audio. I just think that was the wrong approach.

And look at the Commishioner Gordon. How freakin lame! He look more like Alfred than Gordon. Why make a Chief O'Hara that looks like him then do this to Gordon???? And the Penguin???? Looks like the fat penguin from the comics and not the series.

I am just disappointed that with one shot to pull this off they didn't get it right!

......Xing!

Okay. So you're not a hater. I still find your complaints too nit-picky and without much merit. In my own opinion, there was a strong effort to make the character designs resemble the original actors. Maybe (and I am only guessing) you would be happier if they resembled the opening credits of the show, aping the art-style of Silver-Age artist Dick Sprang.

No, I don't expect West or Ward (or Newmar) to sound exactly like they did 50 years ago; that would be ridiculous. What I am questioning is the voice-direction they are being given in this and the choice of takes being used. Or maybe there weren't enough alternate line-readings. I don't think that this reflects their best performances.

The box looks like the series, but in the actual trailer they do not look like the box. Batman and Robin do not look like the series other than they wear the same costumes. Look at the clip with Gordon and O Hara. O Hara looks like Chief Ohara from the tv series, but Gordon looks like the comic book version (?) or Alfred. The Penguin does not look a thing like the Burgess Meredith. Hard to tell about the Riddler, but at least they got the costume and hair right. I just think in places they do well, but others they don't. They could get the license to make likeness's for the action figures to look like the actors and there are games that have the likenesses. Here they go half the way. No I do not want the opening credit versions. In fact I think they did that with the Penguin. I want the original actors appearances.

As for Ward and West's voices. AGAIN. They are Senior Citizens now. West is almost 90. I agree not their best vocal work because of their ages...but I can cut them slack for that. I bet when you are 90 you don't sound like you are 30 either. Of when you are 70 you don't sound like a teenager.

Keep in mind that there might be legal issues involved where using exact likenesses are concerned (for example: with Burgess Meredith and Neil Hamilton). However, if you are expecting photo-realism in the character designs, you are not going to get it except on the cover art.

You seem to be misunderstanding what I am stating about the voice performances of Adam West and Burt Ward (I actually think that Ward does a remarkable job sounding like his younger self). For one thing, you are ignoring where we are both saying the same thing. It's not the timber of their voices that I question, but how their lines are delivered. "To the Batmobile!" should sound like an order, not a suggestion. Again, I wonder if it's a matter of not choosing the best take or not recording enough takes.
