Question about the Ending

So I loved this movie. Currently sitting at #3 for me for the year. I just watched it for the 3rd time though, this time with my girlfriend, her mom and her brother... And they all thought that Dan was actually paralyzed in the end and how could he still be with her after that happened... It never crossed my mind that that was the case. I just thought he was messing around on that scooter thing. What does everyone else think? Am I right that his injuries weren't that bad. Or are they right that he can't walk anymore...

Also this is my first post on this site. Glad to see a movie site like this exist!

I don't think he would be riding a scooter if he was paralyzed, he would be in a wheelchair... He's probably just hurt and will walk again in a few weeks... I really don't think he would be that nice with her and acting like nothing happened if he was paralyzed and she just screwed his whole life. And besides, he does tell her he's okay and gets up a little bit. He wouldn't be able to do that if he was paralyzed.

I was actually asking myself this question. Didn't know what to make of it when I was watching the movie. I'm not sure what the intention of the director was either. Maybe the point is that Ingrid is also not asking that question. If that is the case then that would be brilliant.
