Anyways back to my topic why are lie detector / polygraphs not used in cases like this??
Because they prove nothing.
Despite what you'll hear on junk TV like "Dr Phil", they have nothing to do with people lying. They measure physiological symptoms, like raised blood pressure, sweating and fine muscle tremors, that are generally associated with anxiety. The theory is that if someone's anxious, it must be because they're afraid of the questions and therefore aren't telling the truth.
But it's codswallop. That's why it's not allowed as evidence in court.
You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment.

Also I hear the one asking the polygraph actually decides if lying or not is based on the 2 interviews the tester gives, one prior to the test and one immediately after. Plus the tester is only allowed to ask a couple question during the test. They are allowed to ask those 1 or 2 questions different ways.
