He's kinda handsome, has a good body, but his personality seems pretty dull and other than his looks there's not much there. I know it's a "reality" show (meaning scripted), but I don't get why these guys would make fools of themselves for him.
I said this several times, he really isn't that handsome. In the first episode, when he went undercover, it was the dumbest thing I ever saw because he REALLY didn't stand out from the guys.
Okay, he got abs, but his features are boring, the grey hair is a turn off. He doesn't have anything special really.
I don't know if I would even pick him up at a bar.
As for the guys, from everyone constantly finding reasons to leave, I don't think anyone of them care about him. Robbie even claimed he asked Robert to send him home.
And as for the guys - are they really into him? I don't get that from anyone. Chad and Brandon are the only one that talk about feelings, but Brandon seems (based on Robbie's statement) that he just want to win period regardless of Robert. And Chad was just in love with the idea of being in love. Hence, why he left when he realized the crappy prize.
Assume that most of the guys basically want their 15 minutes of fame and possibly maybe try and get some work like an acting career or something out of it.
Brandon does not need to learn any tricks. He is 29, has a very public job and can easily walk into the gym or bar and get any guy he wanys, even more easily a sugar daddy. Frankly, he doesn't need to learn anything. They will come to him, LOL.
I don't think Robert looks much older than the majority of the suitors. Robby looked like he could be Robert's son, but the rest look within 5 years of Robert's age.
He's handsome by most standards and he's got a great athletic body. But his personality is flat, uninteresting and he comes across as vapid and vain. The most attractive people are those who still don't know they are attractive or those who still feel insecure about themselves. People who don't take their looks for granted and who don't expect everyone to look at them when they enter a room. Robert has no charisma. He's a walking refrigerator who thinks highly of himself and to me, it's a big turn off. I don't care about his past as an escort, at least that could make him more human. But he's definitely not as charming as most of the remaining contestants.
I think Robert is a prize. He was most appealing when he looked distraught as Chad walked out as if it bothered him that he had hurt Chad. The lack of a personality so many refer to is just what the producers wanted. They are selling a monogamous fantasy that Prince Charming will live happily ever after with his chosen one. If Robert had too much personality he would always draw a crowd and would be more likely to cheat.
Embarrassed for Chad or himself? I thought it was unique for the reality dating world so I took it as a sign of character. Usually any outburst from the dumpee is seen as vindication/justification by the dumper.

If this were true they wouldn't have chosen a rent-boy as their prince charming.

I can neither confirm or deny those rumors but they do seem to have a lot of credibility. I was focusing on Robert's many detractors. If the producers had chosen a more irresistible guy then the viewers might assume he would never resist the temptation to stray.
Honestly, I wouldn't look twice at Robert in a bar. Don't get me wrong, he wouldn't look twice at me either, but then I'm not set up as some Prince Charming. This show would only really work if the Prince was someone either so stunning or so sexy and appealing that all the men on the show would choose him above all others even if the producers weren't telling them to do so.
Really, it shouldn't be that difficult - walk into any decent gay bar in New York any weekend night and you'll find someone suitable for the role. And yeah, if they want a certain type - the Fire Island Marc Jacobs rent boy type - they could easily find one of those too. And at the risk of sounding all self-loathy, a little masculinity would go a helluva long way in the drool factor.
Also, the show just comes off too dated. It needs to have a better sense of humor about itself (and I don't mean the stereotypical bitchy stuff). It needs to be more knowing about the whole reality tv phoniness - we're way beyond the point with the stuff that we don't know it's all a crock, and the best reality shows now acknowledge that in some way. The only ones that don't are the horrible "American Pickers" and "Pawn Stars" shows with the terrible scripted scenes and characters.
I'm afraid to even look up to see what happened to Andra! They beat her to death on several shows; made into a real screaming meemie! James was such a doll!
I'm Far from butch, but them Nellie queens would get on my last freakin' nerves! I'm just too old to deal with that from metrosexual types; it's too much! Was there a requirement in their contracts to be lisping b!tches?
He looks like a sea captain and has the personality of a morphine abuser.
I watched the marathon Logo ran of this over the weekend. I didn't understand how anyone would want to be in a relationship with him, let alone be around him for extended periods.
I feel like he's one of those people who was so pretty when he was young that he never had to develop a personality and now he's an adult and has no idea of how to interact with people. He comes off as an alien trying to be a person, but has only learned human interaction by watching television. It's uncomfortable to watch him. He always seems to be mildly delayed in his response to things or in his realization that it's his turn to contribute to an interaction or conversation. It's like he's waiting for a signal or something to know when to go.

Morphine abuser would be a step up imho. Mostly he came across as having the personality of cardboard, despite his interesting, ehm, "history"...
