Had to be the worst ending you could have expected (spoiler)

I mean he has mom ready to talk, he's gotten an autopsy going, has found another victim... every domino was lined up to fall and nail the doctor and then he suddenly goes Rambo and takes out the doctor? Sorry but the ending just seemed so out of place.
