What is the town with the waterfall?

The water tower in the first scene says "Lawrenceton" which is supposed to be in Georgia - but the license plate on Marilu Henner's car reads "Washington" so where exactly does this film take place?

Also is the waterfall from the first scene actually located in Lawrenceton or is it in some other town? It's a beautiful spot.

it is called Montour Falls , new york...though the movies are shot elsewhere
