People still believe in AGW?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHHA.....thanks for the laugh Leo.

Now off you go; back to jetting around the world in a private jet.

Shall we talk about Al Gore's mansion in Tennessee as well?

reply

Yep. What's good for the gander isn't what's good for the goose. Do what I say don't do what I do. Leo is an actor not a scientist but let's listen to him smdh Of course people only look at flawed data from the past few thousand years and that's enough of a sample size. Even though the Earth has been around for over 5 billion years. As if its a given that humans are causing rapid climate change and nothing natural is the reason why it's happening.

But lets just say for a moment that humans are the main drivers of rapid climate change. Its ok for China/Indonesia/India/etc to do whatever they want but build a factory or an oil pipeline in the United States!? Apparently there must be a magical force field that prevents those countries from effecting the climate. Tell me those countries adhere to the same standards as the US then we can enter the conversation. Until then I don't want to hear about this BS. If anything this documentary should be targeted towards the Chinese.

Hey maybe once the US's economy is in shambles (because of EPA standards driving production out of the country) and World War 3 happens with over 90% of the human population being wiped off the face of the Earth climate change will be reversed! Just kill everyone! No humans = no global warming. Problem solved!

reply

Only in Hollywood could a guy with a 9th grade education be taken seriously as an expert on "global warming."

reply

lmao dkm with that grade 9 education crap lol

All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in the rain

reply

Well I'm sure you're jealous that someone is better educated than you, but well, 9th grade is a fact. If you can summon a few more IQ points you can even look it up for yourself -- on the internet!

reply

It is not a question of belief. Climate Change is real its happening right now, saying you don't believe or simply don't think it's happening you're wrong due to the actual evidence thousands of scientists around the world have measured for generations.

I'm not a scientist therefore I can't speak for any facts or figures science shows us. But if the issue concerns one person and they decide to do something about, possibly more than half of the world's democracy is incapable of (including my own country, Australia. Pfft!!!!), then that's their decision.

DiCaprio is doing this purely for his own passion, not for money just to be a spokesman.

reply

The climate has been changing for billions of years. Are humans the main cause for rapid climate change or not. Is it correlation or causation? You can look at climate from the past 2,000 years the same as you can look at climate from the past 5 years and jump to conclusions. The fact is Earth has been around for BILLIONS of years. Do we actually have scientific tests to prove without a doubt that climate hasn't changed this rapidly naturally before? Do we know we won't eventually have better more accurate tests 10, 20, 30+ years from now?

There are plenty of scientific studies supporting both and not enough to automatically destroy and dismantle our way of life. Which in the end creates more internal friction, fight for more power, which leads to conflict which leads to war.

In any case if we're going to push these emissions standards every nation must comply equally. Until then I as an American don't care to listen to such nonsense as my country is doing our part and have already sacrificed millions of productive jobs to other countries who are too good to comply to the same restrictions and standards as my country.

reply

Yeah... thanks for telling me the obvious. Politicizing and all, your concerns definitely aren't mine, and I don't want to argue any further about what science models beyond 'Billions' of years say.

I really hope you don't go around trolling everyone else on internet forums just to make your means necessary to understand. I'm just responding in kind to the user who made this thread, I hope we don't have to go on any further cause I don't have any pleasure getting essay long responses.

reply

And I don't have any pleasure in being called a troll by a troll.

reply

Then tell me, what is the average temp the world should maintain? When has it ever? What tax is going to make it happen?

MMGW is a money retistribution scam.

reply

Well jk-02916 lets see. Far as I know. What is surrounding all of us is called nature. Ever heard of it? Before man came. All was surrounding the earth was called nature. So its called mother nature. So nature can turn up the heat or can turn it down to freezing. The ice glaciers been melting for thousands of years and more will grow. Forest trees will be cut down and new trees will grow in the old ones place. And no I'm not a scientist...don't claim to be. But let nature be nature. Leo is an actor. Well sortof. If actors wants to put their money to where its useful. The poor. Because nature will be nature. Oh and jk-02916. The temp of the earth is what it is...before man. No one actually knows.

Fact There is no evidence that has been measured around the world for generations, like its been a very long time. that is a fantasy. Most weather/climate data was not even collected prior to the 1930's. Global data only goes back to the 1960's and them only for very large cities, it was not until the 1970,s and weather satellite's that global data was collected on a regular basis.

Fact earth is currently in one of its coolest periods as measured by the fossil record going back hundreds of millions of years. we are still coming out of the last ice age which started to end twelve thousand years ago.

Fact our sun is classified as a yellow dwarf variable star. The key word is variable, its output changes day by day, and it is slowly getting hotter.

Fact globally volcanos put out more green house gasses and have a great annual effect on climate than man.

Fact if mankind disappeared from the earth today climate change would continue.

Fact SAVE THE PLANET is a myth, it is not the planet we should be worried about, it is us. If in the next year we consumed every once of fossil fuels, dumped all our chemicals into the ocean and set of every atomic bomb on the planet, we would be gone but the planet would survive. Come back in two thousand years and you would never know it happened.

reply

Right... I've heard plenty of 'your' myths before. I highly doubt the quality of your statements speak about anything of what I've read in various scientific studies (Yeah I read them), so really I doubt you're a scientific genius who is qualified. Scientific data is legit, yes I know that, doubting the actual evidence or having people think otherwise doesn't make them legit or qualified at all, it makes them (especially you) Wholeheartedly Wrong!

I think all of 'fact picks' are pathetic, Yes! I'm very well aware Humans are now the dominant factor in causing Global Warming (mostly burning fossil fuels), It's a threat to our way of living, nature and our health. I'm talking about the present, now! I myself do think something should be done now especially since thousands of plant and animal life is currently under extinction.

I also doubt you or I will even be alive in two thousand years.

reply

I think what cracks me up most about climate change deniers is the immediate quick impact of humans on a small scale and the obvious consequences.

You remove enough top soil from the earth, you get the dust bowl in the early 20th century. IT happened. We caused it. IT had catastrophic effects to ecosystems and even humans.

You frack too much, and gas gets in the water lines. You pave enough roads and flooding happens, again due to the absence of top soil.

You dump enough garbage in the ocean, you get the great garbage patch in the Pacific and you kill a lot of animals.

These aren't things anyone denies...but as soon as you say we're mucking things up EVERYWHERE, people get all defensive.

It it completely understood. Well no of course not. Did "Global Warming" probably set the discussion back and create skeptics. yes, of course, I get it.

But aren't we smarter than this? Huge problems all around us. No one denies impact on a small ecosystem, but a larger picture issue is just so ridiculous?

reply

The question is, are you able to discern the difference between those who are shouting "Global warming is a myth!" and those who are saying, "Yes, the Earth is getting warmer, and humans have doubtless played a role in that, but it is NOT the dire emergency the catastrophists say it is."

Don't you see a difference there?

Can't reasonable people disagree on the RATE of warming the earth has undergone in the last few millennia (the numbers do vary) and WHERE its temperature will likely wind up in the next century (computer models vary wildly on this, too -- not surprisingly) and thus, also, on the magnitude of the emergency?

Lastly, shouldn't the sheer number of predicted environmental disasters that did NOT come to pass over the last 60 years (and there've been at least a dozen or so) make us a wee bit skeptical?

reply

Jesus man...you scare me. Literally none of the things you listed as facts, are facts.

I get being ignorant about religion as it can get personal, but why climate change ? Why choose to deny that ?

I guess you won't be hurt by it, this generation will be gone or on it's last legs when the effects of climate change culminate, so ignorance is indeed bliss in this case...for now.

Those pesky scientist are trying to pick on poor big oil companies. Thats bullying. What you sound like...
