Remake or Parody?

Was this movie meant to be a remake or a parody? Every time I watch the original movie, it always leaves me heartbroken. Meanwhile, watching the remake had me bursting in laughter, because of the awful acting. When I wasn't laughing, I was zoning out during the movie. I even zoned out during the scene when Hillary died. Lifetime, why did you take such a beautiful movie, and turn it into a joke?

I had the same interpretation, it seemed the whole movie was a joke. It lacked the emotional impact the original had and sometimes the movie felt too rushed at some parts and writers picked and randomly chose lines from the original movie and inserted in different scenes while adding new lines to make it relevant, it felt like they copied the orginal script and just cut and paste. It felt like a parody from MadTv, especially the screeching rendition of "Wind Beneath my Wings," it was an awful cover of the hit song from Bette Midler.

Haven't seen it yet so don't have an opinion on this one, but my biggest issue with these types of remakes is when they use parts of the original script word for word. They did that in both the Footloose & Parent Trap remakes. I liked the new material but the copied parts just come across stilted instead of natural.

The Parent trap movies were awesome.

This is terrible. You just cannot take a movie like Beaches, which had perfect casting and story, and remake it. Even modernizing it doesn't work.

There are lots of best friend movies. Beaches was more than that. And these two don't even have good chemistry. I don't like Idina as an actress, as hard as that is to write.

I was so sad this was made. The first was so natural. You really believed Cici as a child and adult. You really believed Hilary's jealousy and struggle.

Sorry Nia and Idina.
