So many questions....

Ok, so the animation looks different... and it looks worse than the first couple of movies....

Another post said this was a reboot... Why do they need a reboot now???

And when Draculara and Frankie became friends, Monster High was already established, why change the story to they established the school??

According to Wikipedia, it is supposed to be a reboot, and Ghoulia and Abbey will be missing. I really liked both of them. Abbey was funny, b/c she seemed no nonsense.

They also removed the Headless Mistress. Dracula is now the headmaster and it's indicated he has feelings for Clawdine's mother (The Art teacher).

They completely changed the origin. Now Frankie is the "tech Geek" of the group, which I suppose is a nod to Victor Frankenstein himself and perhaps the Frankenstein novel in which The Creature was actually highly intelligent and once he learned how to speak he was more articulate than his own creator and learned three languages in the course of about eleven months.

The new version is a bit like Hotel Transylvania only with a school instead of a hotel. Odd that Universal Studios would distribute a Hotel Transylvania knock-off after writing an (in my opinion) unreasonable list of what Hotel Transylvania could not use under claim of trademarking - including the red lined Dracula cape and widow's peak (which legally Universal can't actually claim).

The oddest thing I found about the new film (besides the shameless accessories plugging scene) is how Draculaura begs her father to allow Frankie to stay with them. No one even takes into account that she has parents and a home.

I agree, a reboot is stupid. The movies are already a success. I hated the animation in this one, the school is now like a boarding school everone lives there in Dracs house! The store was ok but no Ghoulia or Abby? Mistake, if u ask me those charaters are part of the main team and there funny. They even changes some of the voices. Super dissapointed, seems like a rip off to make more money. Dont fix what isnt broken. Been a fan since it first started, before anyone even knew what it was, my girls always look forwarded to the new movie but now were all disappointed. From Awesome Boo York to clay looking, week Outfits reboot.. Not buying his one or the new dolls.

I thought it seemed like a bad idea, but personally I'm liking the rebooted version much more than the older one. I don't know why, it's just more enjoyable. The story seemed much more interesting than anything from the previous shorts or stories, the character designs are better, and even though it is just there to sell toys, it didn't feel like a toy commercial like other specials did (though I imagine that'll change when they start putting out themed toylines & specials to go with them).

I don't mind the new animation. However, a reboot just wasn't necessary. They had already well established the history of Monster High. This movie rewrites the history while eliminating two of my daughter's favorite characters: Ghoulia and Abby. We especially miss Abby because her voice actress was one of our favorites. I can't think of any reason they would do this at this time.

They've changed some of the characters too to make their personalities more diverse and less interchangeable.
