Ghoulia??

Is ghoulia in the reboot? I think I saw her in the preview but the character was talking...so she talks now??

reply

I've only seen the trailer so far, and I didn't see Ghoulia.
There's a new zombie called Moanica D'Kay; maybe it was her.

Monster High without Ghoulia is like Star Wars without R2-D2 and Chewbacca.

Moanica is not Ghoulia, she is a separate character and she's meant to be an antagonist (at least temporarily). That is pretty much all I know for certain. One theory is they dropped Ghoulia because they're changing Frankie to be the brains of the group.

A theory that seems to be confirmed by the videos on the Monster High website; Frankie is depicted as someone who loves science and reading.

Ghoulia, in the TV specials and webisodes, had the role of the nerdy sidekick who uses her brain to get her friends out of trouble; and sometimes even save the world, like in Boo York Boo York. Like I said: The part R2-D2 has in the Star Wars series.

If this role is taken by Frankie, who is also a driving force behind Monster High, then the writers will have a job creating an interesting character. Hopefully not Mary Sue; but more Hermione Granger.

I kind of like the idea of Frankie being the nerdy one. It's a nice throw back to the actual Frankenstein novel. In the novel The Creature was actually very intelligent and very well spoken once he learned how to speak. He had long black hair and yellow eyes (much like in Penny Dreadful). Also he was fluent in three languages (French, German and English) which he taught himself in a matter of months. His favorite work of literature was Paradise Lost by John Milton and he quoted it often. He was more eloquent than his own creator when he finally confronted Victor Frankenstein.

But I do miss Ghoulia...

Is this really a reboot?? I liked Ghoulia too.

reply

Yes, it's a complete reboot. Ghoulia is gone. The plot is sort of in the vein of Hotel Transylvania only instead of building a hotel Dracula opens the school.

Ghoulia and Headless Mistress have been removed. Yes, Frankie is now the nerd and Dracula is the headmaster and also teaches a class on Humans and cat memes (No, really.) And Clawdeen's mother (whom Dracula seems to have a crush on) teaches art.

Update: I was just told they're bringing her back next year. Popular demand, I guess.
