Entertaining but not great

The movie had its moments but overall it’s pretty meh in terms of the story.

I get horror movies like this don’t need to make a lot of sense but this one just takes the cake.

Spoilers ahead.

Somehow after only 1 day these people had enough time to completely clear out every single room they used and then recreate them as abandoned dumps? I don’t care how rich you are that isn’t happening.

Also even if you are rich and like gambling you usually like decent odds, the way this game goes is most would likely have died in the first couple rounds. Yet seems you have to bet on a person to win it.

It seems to have been going for awhile and we do discover they cover up the deaths of the contestants. But really these are a lot of deaths over a period of years.

Nitpicky these all are sure, but there’s enough small wrong things here that take you out of the movie a bit that could have been easily solved by keeping the ideas simpler and would have made it more terrifying because can go to the question of “that is possible shit this could actual happen”.

Would recommend this movie as a fun movie to watch with friends and placing your own bets on the outcome.

It was entertaining for what it is. I agree they should have kept the ideas simpler. It'd be interesting to see clever solutions and not so much craziness. Nobody would ever make it through the room with the disappearing floor. Plus they get through all of that and there's just a "Game Master" who decides to try to strangle him to death?

I also don't see the point of the opening scene other than to trick us into thinking a character we don't even know yet will die later. That takes away any kind of surprise when the characters find out it's real and they might actually die.

Yeah the fact is seems based around gambling rich people as well it’s very odd it’s set up so it’s damn near impossible for someone to win.

If it was about betting on who dies when would make more sense just making fights to the death.

With how much money is obviously involved and how powerful these people are. Those two survivors really wouldn’t have made it to the cops.

It’s a fun movie but it would have been better if it took a page from the movie the collector where it’s simple yet terrifying traps that can be beaten and never come off as to cartoonish.
