Saw + Cube

It did barrow concepts from those two films but it was better. It wasn't the gore fest of saw and it had better production values then cube.

I couldn’t ignore the similarities but once I got over them, I really enjoyed the film and thought it was better than both of those as well. To be fair though, the first two Saw movies were much less torture porn/gore fest and remain my favorites of the franchise. After that, they became a contest of which can be the goriest of all with no actual need for it. The most annoying thing about Cube was the lack of any kind of explanation

Read that there's not SO much gore (i.e. Saw) and more of a story.
I'm willing to watch it.

It's worth seeing. Better than I thought it would be.

True, you don’t need heaps of gore to make a compelling horror situation. The Saw franchise has gotten pretty over the top with that. And I agree, I thought the story was brilliant. I hope you see it and enjoy it, I loved it. Once you get past the whole “this is a lot like saw and cube” thing, it’s pretty enjoyable

That’s exactly what I thought while watching it, half Saw, Half Cube, but better than both. And saw I and II are among my favorite horror movies. I didn’t care for Cube because it was nonsensical and frustrating, having no clue what’s going on and never quite finding out. I understand that we’re watching it through the experience of the victims, so what they don’t know, we don’t know, but they should at least have them find out afterwards so all of us are enlightened, otherwise it just feela unfulfilling.
(I’m new here so is there a no spoilers rule on these forums? I’m stopping my comment here because I dunno the rules and wanted to go into what I liked about Saw and what I liked about this movie even more)

I saw it ! To be honest I did quite enjoy the movie except the spiritual ending for me was simply when Zoey & Ben limped off together - the aerial view of them escaping was fantastic.

The obvious sequel was obvious with that stupid airplane stunt. So what happens now? The makers of Minos are going to endanger an entire passenger crew in order to "play" with our two survivors? that's total BS

My favourite part was the Billiard Room =)

I actually liked the ending as it was, while I do see a set up for a sequel, but not in the ending itself. I also thought it ridiculous to kill off a whole plane of people too. But I doubt we’d see any of it. I don’t think any of that would be in the sequel, I think it just implies their power, shows they’re not done, and the audience can assume that the two survivors died on the plane thing between the two movies. I loved the ending as it was, gave that whole sinister, ambiguous, unhappy ending vibe, if you forget the whole killing a whole plane of people to kill 2 people thing. Highly doubtful they’d try to make a whole second movie based on that. First movie had all types of rooms to get through, a second movie about only one, would be very bland. I agree it seemed to set up a sequel, but a sequel having nothing to do with the survivors of this movie or their plane demise. I assume they’ll just do a different set of rooms with different “players” for a second movie.
