unfortunately not funny

I went in knowing that this was a kid's film, but hoping that it would be funny - like shrek.
Unfortunately.... the story is childlish and the humor was was the same.
In other words, while kids might enjoy this, adults.... are mostly going to be bored out of their minds. The cuteness of pikachu wears off fast when everything else in the film is so boring.

Was it really boring?
I'd think the pokemon battles spice things up quite a bit!

The Mr.Mime scene was pretty funny and inventive. The story is shoddy but Reynolds as Pikachu is amusing and carried the movie, his reactions to Psyduck especially got some big laughs in the screening I was in.

It's fun for what it is, obviously it's no Spider-Verse or even Bumblebee, both are better family movies I've seen recently but this was still an alright watch for adults I'd say.

I fell asleep.

The story and jokes were childish but you went to see it for the "cuteness' of Pikachu?

I enjoyed the movie quite a bit. Haven't been into Pokemon in just over 10 years (other than a brief interest in Pokemon GO) but enjoyed the references, jokes and hints at possible future films. Not to mention there is fan service everywhere.

I have no experience with Pokemon but I hear it's quite a phenomenon. Because I work with a youngster I saw the movie this past weekend. Didn't hate it, and there was more than enough action and surprises to keep it watchable, but I won't stick with the Poke-verse because of it.
Mostly I was surprised how expensive the movie looked and how much action there was. At some point it's too much. I didn't expect a superhero movie.
