A really good movie that keeps it Real

LMN's Killer Coach is on right now and a must acknowledge, this is the 3rd viewing which means for this Humble reviewer, my casual policy of the '3 listens rule', and for films '3 watches rule' has been met.

With this said and also having read some Users Critics reviews a decision made to offer up a review of this film.

This is a Lifetime movie, LMN. Their movies remind me a lot of the 1970's major network weekday movies. They stay with a solid plot that has general appeal to a wide audience, the movies revolve around true events or realistic topics going on at current times.

All this preamble and introduction, Why? Because after reading the User Critics reviews which are appreciated very much, even if I disagree, the reviewers took their time and felt some sort of way to share their reviews.

The movie, Killer Coach. Though general in plot and written, filmed and edited so anyone can understand the movie, get it's point ... That is the point.

The subject matter, there can never be too many movies that young people watch that share a story where impulsivity, vulnerability, a charismatic and charming character comes along and the decision making process goes out the window.

Especially with attraction, visceral passion, etc people all the time from all walks of life end up in mix ups, wondering "how did one end up in this situation ..."

That is a primary theme of many LMN movies. And they do this in a way that can be entertaining and educational. This film doesn't get preachy or condescending.

Rather it shows a story fairly close to how it is, not how people may think it should be. The value won't be lost as the mass of people from the wide audience gets a gander at subject matter that is not cool; Old boy charismatic sweet talking swim coach.

He shows up right on time to save the day. Javicia's character is a talented swimmer, a ton of pressure on her to make it happen but she is vulnerable and can't let loose lips sink ships.

Her ship that is, the rigors and pressures on young athletes to win? Wow, that is America. And Old boy swim coach the exceptional deceptional psychopath that slips under all the radars because he appears to save the day.

As another reviewer noted Javicia's character, "her funky butt" and the coach creep get down in the pool, an intense and passionate one night stand.

There was a time not long ago where a young lady like Javicia's character who is stunningly pretty and attractive, where the regular white guys might have stared at her, jaw dropped but most wouldn't actually try to develop a relationship with a beautiful young black Woman.

Dem times are changing and quick. Everyone can like everyone, that is a message TV shows nowadays.

And Javicia's character has boyfriend who is a white guy, a sensitive dude who appears kind of square, but really cares about her.

In this movie, those basic facts and reality are not an issue, that is the big difference from past interracial movies like The Bodyguard, Something New and many more.

No one in the movie is trippin' off of that. Some may say that is progress because regarding Love, that will always remain each person's indisputable choice.

What they do show is coach creep and champion swimmer get down in the pool and that scene was kind of lightweight erotic and sensual. They were in the moment and it jumped off, so it goes ...

Probably a lot more then people think. But, coach creep becomes the killer coach, first by the stalking, then the gentle coercion which dials right up to extortion until this psychopath loses his cool and is unable to persuade her.

Meantime, Javicia's character moved on and tries to put the passion driven bad decision to rest. First, polite and appropriate, then negotiating until finally she has to overcome her fears and stand up to this very dangerous dude.

And where she is trapped in the pool area near the end and killer coach has a gun, she does what the experts recommend in these real life situations, to buy time.

And it works. Close call and a happy ending. She survives by being a Strong Woman. Her Momma is tied up and duct taped at home, her friend finally gets it and goes with her gut feeling and they call the police and show up right on time!

The general premise cannot be lost. Things happen, people are human. She survives.

On top of that, she is a champion swimmer. What is tired and played out are the endless and mindless movies where Javicia's character would be portrayed in movie full of gangsters, drugs, street life, etc

Those plots are recycled into the ground. But, they seem to appeal to a large audience as well.

Excellent movie, responsible and very well done in spelling out the pitfalls of this kind of problem
