Jesus this is terrible

Either watch the 90's anime or read the manga this isnt worth it.

YOU DON'T NEED TO LIVE ANYMORE!!!!

Did you only watch episode 1? If so I agree with you but that's where it ends, episode 2 and onward gets much better! Just finished episode 6 and it was amazing, and it keeps getting better!

reply

I've only seen episode 1 and bits of episode 2 so far. What annoys me is the *beep* intrusive guitar music every time there's a fight scene. It grates on my nerves... every damn time. Why didn't they stick with the original thematic soundtrack from the 90's anime or even from the movies? I would have forgiven most of anything for more Berserk, but the music is just horrendous and out of place. Hell I would've been okay without music at all, and just the sound effects of him slashing and dicing people up. It's so distracting, if there's a way for anyone out there to remove it from the scenes that would really help.

Edit:

Okay I've seen up to episode 6 so far... and the plot has picked up and I've gotten used to the intrusive music, but the camera is always panning every 5 seconds and it's irritating. For the most part they have stuck to the story and I appreciate that. It's not perfect, but I have to get my Berserk fix somehow, so this will have to do. I look forward to seeing how this turns out since it seems like they are including all the aspects of the manga so far (that I have noticed). What's weird is they are very careful not to show genitals, but you can see that there are indecent acts being committed -- they're nude, but not really? It just looks... strange, like they're mannequins.

Anyway, I'm very much looking forward to Griffith showing up soon. If you're like me, and you need a Berserk fix until the new chapter of the manga comes out, then you'll find a way to overlook its faults.

reply

It's all just as bad.

reply

Terrible? Nah. With anything that has incredibly high expectations, people will overlook the good for the bad to find anything and everything wrong with it. This new Berserk is no exception. They could have, and should have, made a better choice with the animation style. It's a bit annoying and I'm still trying to wrap my head around why they decided to go in this direction. The music isn't too bad in my opinion. It's pretty similar to the original, though not nearly as effective thus far. The original did have some strange, out of place music as well in the opening.

That being said, it's Berserk! We've waited nearly 2 decades for new story on TV and it's finally here. I've only read a little of the manga after the Golden Age Arch, but it seems to be on track for the most part. It's pretty interesting and fun to watch so far and I hope they can keep it going.

reply

I don't think there really any high expectations from the audience as when everyone saw the trailer months ago everyone hated it.

reply

I can confirm, as i am also the most read review for this show. It´s still crap as of ep.6. Read the manga (10/10).

reply

^ I can confirm nobody cares what you think, so go back watching your Moe crap and stop wasting your time here.

reply

How did you come to this conclusion, as i have a public profile / ratings. I also praised the more extreme manga. Some good moe series further exist and even the OG Macross had a similar esthetic.

reply

Don't get me wrong, the manga is amazing but name me some good anime in recent years that isn't some moe crap? The last good anime I watched was Parasyte from 2014, what animes have you watched recently that gives you the right to call this "crap"? Sure this anime has flaws, the animation isn't the best nor is the music, although they are both growing on me, and if you have been watching up to episode 6 you should know they are using less CGI and more traditional animation as they're moving on, episode 7 was another win and the story is very close to the manga which you rate so highly. The censorship is another issue, but perhaps they are saving the uncensored for the bluray and dvd. Lastly none of the previous Berserk animes were perfect either, both the original and golden age were missing arcs and characters that were in the manga, so they weren't perfect, but they're still great animes, as is this. I think your expectations were too high and you were disappointed somehow, but that hardly gives you the right to call this series "crap", I can confirm that.

The good anime of this season: 91 Days, Amanchu!(this one is moe), Arslan Senki: Fuujin Ranbu, Orange, Planetarian and Thunderbolt Fantasy.

Ongoing from last season: Brotherhood: Final Fantasy XV and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable.

Thank you for posting this list first off, here's my thoughts on what you listed. Based on what you listed, it seems I wasn't too far off on my initial statement, granted I'm no weeaboo so I only watch things that interest me, I hate moe anime with a passion. I just think there's a flood of them out there, which make series like Berserk standout like a diamond in the rough. That's just my opinion of course, so here's what I think of your list:

91 Days - Looks good I give you that, you piqued my interest on this one and will definitely check it out.

Amanchu! - Moe crap, I don't know why u bother listing this?

Arslan Senki: Fuujin Ranbu - Might be worth a watch.

Orange - Moe crap, definitely skipping this.

Planetarian - No thank you, more Moe crap.

Thunderbolt Fantasy - WTF is this? Is this even anime? skip lol

Brotherhood: Final Fantasy XV - I thought I retired from Final Fantasy, but I might come out of retirement for this if it turns out to be good.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable - Love JJBA, so this is the only one I can give some feedback to. IMO Diamond is Unbreakable doesn't seem as good as the previous installments. The previous JoJo's were far more intense and faster pace, every episode was exciting and fun to watch. Diamond is Unbreakable on the other hand has a much slower pace, sometimes dragging, there's nothing we haven't seen before, and since the whole series revolves around the same town, rather than traveling the world, I also find boring. Still better than some of the other series you mention, but imo not better than Berserk 2016.

It's not terrible, just animated strange. It follows the manga pretty close but I've always loved berserk and will watch or read any iteration of it so I guess I'm not the best to judge but it isn't terrible, just strange.

reply

I agree that the animation is definitely different, and it takes time to warm up to. It has its up and down moments, but I'm glad they went CG with the liquid blob of death, I think that would have looked weird in 2d animation.

reply

Unfortunately I can't buy the manga. But this thing is a *beep* insult to Berserk. The retarded music, the horrible animation, the lack of fight scenes, the length of the episodes, the fact that nothing happens. I have a special kind of hate for the disgusting moron that made this piece of turd. And I can't help thinking about all the morons that bused to say the 90's anime was bad ... that was one of the BEST ANIMES EVER.
