Not funny

Less than funny, this show is more like depressing. I wouldn't even call this a dramedy, this gets a 5 for production & acting. Not returning for episode 2 because, again, I wanted comedy.

I can really relate to this programme and only came across it by chance. I'm not sure if I would find it funny if I couldn't relate to it so well. Social work has been rated as the most stressful job in Britain and it gives me a sense of hope that two stars have taken the time to recognise the work and make it real, but in a funny way to the public.
I know this is very deep but I love Jo Brand and what they are trying to do is really incredible. I'm not surprised if it's not popular because generally the public aren't interested in the job unless it's to criticise the work following a tragedy.

The career has wrecked my head and made me loose faith but just one episode of this put a very big smile on my face. I would love to see another series even if it was only produced for me. :-)

The last two episodes were okay. I think the show is more of a drama told through comedic moments, than an outright comedy. Given the premises of abuse, stereotypes and foster children, I guess you can only have so many laughs though.

I realise that anyone tuning into this expecting a traditional comedy may be disappointed but this really does tick all the boxes in so many ways. This a superb balance of comedy - yes there is comedy -, pathos, and a huge helping of frustration. I've just finished watching the whole series on catch up and I was totally hooked. The subject matter is hard but that's the whole point. It's very very well written and I felt the acting was excellent. I do hope there's more to come.
