Is this year's Summer Olympics less fun ?

Is it just Me, or do the Olympics in Rio feel less intense and less fun than the two previous Summer Olympic Games in London and Beijjing ? I'm still enjoying them, and it still feels like the Summer Olympics. What could be watering down the usual more kick @$$ tone of the Summer Olympics for this year. I don't think that the games in Rio are being over shadowed by this year's "life or death" high stakes US Presidential Election, nor is Michael Phelp's retirement killing it. Maybe less athletes this time, due to the virus. Who knows ? Anyways, share your opinions and tell Me what You all think of this year's games, and if You feel it's less fun, and what is killing it if so.

What's killing it for me is NBC. Countless times when I have tuned into the Olympics to watch a particular event, the event is already in a commercial break. After wading through that, they show a little bit of the event or run a fluff/sap story and then it's right back to another set of boring repetitive commercials.

As to the ratings, they are down from Beijing and London. The way NBC tells the story they're not concerned, even if they can't deliver the viewers to the advertisers, they are still making money.

NBC's coverage isn't great on TV, but I watch online and the coverage there has been great.

I think the ratings are more about overall TV ratings going down the last 4 years as opposed to these games being of less quality than 2012 or 2008. People are watching and following in different ways including social media and streaming.

It's absolutely NBC's fault with their geriatric commentators. They need some young blood to liven things up. It's funny how they flew Leslie Jones down, because they realized just how dull and out of touch they'd become. I bet they thought Ryan Seacrest (the most punchable celebrity alive) would draw in the younger viewers. Wrong!

Chthonic gods have set their sights on making me a slave to their ways.

It is definitely less fun this year; I found the London Olympics to be way more exciting and anticipating. I feel like they rushed through the gymnastics; they had the team finals on the second day?!?!?! That is moving way too fast plus they cut out so much gymnastics by showing the minimal amount. The airing of the Olympics has been very disappointing this year....

I didn't enjoy them as much as I have in past years. They have become over commercialized. Full competitions are not being shown.

This Year's Summer Olympics, I give a 7/10. It kinda had an Iron Man 3 vibe.

That's really weird, people. Here in Brazil we had 16 channels displaying virtually everything 24 hours per day and all the content is still available for free even after the games, including the ceremonies.
Everything has been so exciting! I have never watched so many games on Tv in my entire life!
I don't understand how can the international coverage had been so bad considering there were thousands of journalists from all over the globe covering every single aspect of the games.
