My theory is that Irene is either Lorraine's mother since both of them have visions that warn them of evil coming or that Sister Irene been Lorraine the whole time before she met Ed.

Lorraine Warren was born in 1927. The movie was set in 1952. Sister Irene appears to be in her early 20s. Sister Irene is either Lorraine, or possibly Lorrain's sister. Maybe no relation at all. You'll have to wait for the next movie. Mother? Really?
