Did you find this twist annoying?

That there were no nuns? I didn’t like that everyone they talked to was just the demon playing with them.

reply

No, I didn't have a problem with the twist or find it annoying.

reply

I didn't mind.

But when she’s scared that the nun doing the perpetual prayer was the demon and it turned out to be a beautiful young lady, you have to ask, could the demon really do that?

reply

Do you mean how could a demon appear beautiful? In that case, I think working from the Catholic framework of the movies, the Christian Bible states that Satan can masquerade as an angel of light. It would be in keeping that any of his demons could also appear beautiful when it suited their purpose.

the Christ blood spit in the face was pretty dope

I don't think this is right. The nuns - human looking - were ghosts of deceased nuns trying to help our friends. The old nun (which later turned out to be a dead body being manipulated to communicate to the priest) was the Evil Nun. But not the others, IMO. Also why we see our heroine bury them all out of respect in the end... I felt the scene shower her gratitude for their help.

Don't forget the secret of the castle was told to ”us” by a ghost nun. Surely this was not the evil one.

Anyway, I found this was a great twist.

reply

I wasn't annoyed because I saw it coming a mile away. This film was so predictable it was not even funny.

But it wasn't the demon playing with her. All the Nuns she talked to were those deceased Nuns spirits/angels trying to help her. The only nuns the demon controlled were the ones with the black sheet over their faces. Oh, and the convent mother as well (but I think she was a reanimated corpse). The ones she spoke with the whole movie and that prayed with her were good, and not from Valak (that's why they were attacked, they were helping Sister Irene). Hope that clears that up!
