This is nothing like Resident Evil
I finished the game, I was disappointed. Why it called "Resident Evil 7"? Where is zombies and characters?
This is not real Resident Evil. This is rip-off Outlast and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Oh, give me a break with that fanboy crap - of course it's "Resident Evil". There's more to the "RE" games than just zombies. And the assertion that "it's not "RE" because it doesn't have any of original characters" is stupid and infantile thinking. What should matter is the core aspects of the series, not just "zombies".

And the "RE" games ripped off from other games, 80s gore flicks and various B-movies.
I think zombies were becoming quite stale tbh and it meant that most RE games felt the same. I am so glad they gave it a new direction that was actually horror! RE4 had a few elements of horror, RE5 was all out action and RE6 was just plain terrible!
Resident Evil 7 is an amazing game, so atmospheric, tense and disturbing. I haven't said that about an RE game since the remake, so that is saying alot. The story ties in beautifully with the roots and to me, this definitely feels like an RE game. Going to avoid spoilers for anybody who hasn't finished the game yet.
If this is the direction the series is taking from here on in, I am one happy Resi fan :)
It's weird hearing "It's not Resident Evil because of X, Y and Z" when RE4-6 were even further away from what Resident Evil represents by a long shot.
I hated the whole super soldier crap. They turned Leon and Chris into something ridiculous, made them overpowered and you never felt in real threat as a result of it. Give me this claustrophobic, vulnerable feel to a game any day. I want to feel like I could be offed at any time and that if I get cornered, I'm pretty much screwed as opposed to just shooting an enemy in the arm, leg or head and then kicking them, sending every enemy around to the floor....How is that survival horror? THIS is survival horror and I love it. I just wish some of my fellow RE fans weren't so precious.....
